SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Humane Society officials are searching for the person responsible for abandoning a dog in a San Pasqual Valley canyon recently.A grove manager at Bandy Canyon found the neglected dog Friday, according to society officials. The male dog appeared to be an about 2-year-old pit bull mix.The dog was taken to the humane society's Escondido campus, where a veterinary team gave it IV fluids and placed it on a heated bed, as its temperature was low.Because of the dehydrated, neglected condition of the dog, the society's law enforcement arm has opened a felony animal cruelty investigation.Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 or SDHS law enforcement at 619-299-7012.This week's incident is the third similar incident to occur in the last month. In February, nine puppies were found abandoned at Kit Carson Park in a dog food bag. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are investigating after a couple was found dead in a Torrey Highlands home Saturday night. According to police, the couple was expected in San Francisco earlier in the day, but they never showed up. When police arrived at the home on the 7400 block of Via Rivera in Torrey Highlands just before 10 p.m., they saw the body of a person through a window of the home. After entering the house, officers found an Asian man and woman in their 50s dead with trauma to their upper bodies. 10News spoke to neighbors who were stunned to see all the police activity in their quiet neighborhood."Everybody seems to mind their own business, I haven't heard of any problems whatsoever," neighbor Salam Hasenin said. "I hope we go back to our peaceful environment and I just feel really sad and bad for the people."Nick Palermino shares a back wall with the victims' home. He did not recall any commotion happening Saturday night. "We have a dog that has a doggie door, and she wasn't barking last night at all," Palermino said. "I hope it is isolated to this one incident. I hope it is not burglary that went bad."According to police, the victims’ home does not appear to be disturbed. Detectives are investigating the deaths. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a door-to-door solicitor who has prompted a string of complaints about threatening outbursts and who was seen on video taking swings at a woman in Pacific Beach.Corey Lamont Terry, 45, is wanted on felony charges of making criminal threats and attempted burglary, according to the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office. A warrant for his arrest was issued earlier this month, according to the Sheriff’s Department website.Police have been investigating Terry since at least early November, after “several” people complained about Terry’s aggressive language while soliciting money door-to-door, according to SDPD Lt. Shawn Takeuchi.Takeuchi urged the public to call their local police agency if they spot Terry, who is about 6 feet tall and weighs roughly 220 pounds. He said residents should not approach him based on his past behavior.Terry has canvassed neighborhoods in Pacific Beach and Ocean Beach in recent weeks, claiming he is raising money for charity. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Ridership of dockless scooters and bikes has dropped off dramatically since the summer.New data from the city says 222,076 people rode the vehicles in the two week period ending Oct. 15. That was down from 441,830 rides from July 15 to July 30. "When I first started they were littered everywhere," said Kelly Callaghan, who rides scooters in Pacific Beach. "It's pretty insane how the change happened like this."On Monday, only a handful of people could be spotted riding dockless scooters in some of San Diego's most traveled areas, including downtown and the Mission Beach and Pacific Beach boardwalks. The change could be due to more than just the summer being over.In July, the city instituted new rules that — among other things — required scooter operators to use geofencing technology to reduce speeds on the waterfront and boardwalks to 3 miles per hour. Additionally, police have issued 383 citations and the city has impounded 3,733 devices. So far, two operators have pulled out, and a city hearing office may revoke Lime's permit within the next 30 days. In a statement, Lime said it hopes to continue operating in San Diego“We’re proud of our partnership with the City of San Diego and we believe the evidence presented demonstrates that Lime is the most compliant scooter operator in the city," the company said. "We look forward to addressing all concerns, proving our compliance, and continuing to serve the San Diego community.”On Monday, the City Council approved a response to a grand jury report that said in part the city should increase scooter enforcement. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Gas & Electric this week turned off power to tens of thousands of customers due to high wind conditions, but almost three days into the shutoff, some customers say they’re running out of options and need their power back now.East County resident Cynthia Chisum told ABC 10News, “It isn’t fun. We’ve lived in this house for 45 years. So, I know about power outages. But we’ve never had one of these preemptive power outages.”Chisum isn’t new to red flag warnings and what that comes with, as precautions are taken to make sure everyone stays safe.But this time Chisum is running out of options. Her family has been relying on candles, lamps, and battery powered equipment to make it through. Their big problem is the freezer -- without any power, their food is close to rotting.“We have a freezer full of fish that my husband caught during a fishing trip and we hate for all that to go spoiled,” Chisum said.Chisum said it was windy Wednesday night, but since then it’s been calm. That’s why she believes her power should be restored quickly.SDG&E posted an update on their website laying out their restoration plans, saying “crews are conducting visual inspections of each impacted circuit to determine whether there were any wind related damage before power can be restored.”The utility also said crews are looking for safety hazards such as downed lines, debris or tree branches caught in power lines. If no damage is found, power can be restored quickly.For those impacted by the outages, SDG&E has set up drive-thru resource centers where customers can get water and snacks or charge devices. 1646
