SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One of San Diego's most historic neighborhoods will be on full display this weekend. The Barrio Logan Art Crawl hits the historic neighborhood on Saturday starting at 4 p.m. The free art crawl takes place every second Saturday of the month throughout the year from Main St. to Julian Ave.Attendees can check out Barrio Logan's galleries displaying works from local artists, breweries and restaurants throughout the neighborhood, murals, live music, and more. The event provides a way to highlight Barrio Logan's Chicano artistry and culture, from Chicano Park to the area's vibrant businesses and art."We just want people to come out and enjoy the importance of art and everything that happens here in Barrio Logan, from coming to the eateries to the breweries to the galleries we have here," Chris Zertuche, one of the event's organizers, says."Chicano Park is the heart of the neighborhood and they're the ones who provided a platform for us to have an art district here," Zertuche adds. 1014

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One San Diego restaurant has been awarded one of the most prestigious accolades given to eateries.Chef William Bradley's restaurant Addison at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar was given one Michelin star in the guide's first California edition. The guide awards between one and three stars to restaurants, meaning either "a very good restaurant in its category" (one star), "excellent cooking, worth a detour" (two stars), or "exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey" (three stars).Addison, a contemporary French restaurant, was San Diego's only restaurant to receive a star and one of 90 to receive at least one star in the California guide.RELATED: Michelin names several San Diego restaurants as 'hidden gems'In a statement to 10News, Bradley said the award is "humbling." "We are honored to be recognized by Michelin during this seminal year in California. Since opening Addison in 2006, we have devoted ourselves to the pursuit of excellence and will continue to find inspiration from that relentless commitment, offering each guest a superlative, personalized dining experience," Bradely, the restaurant's director and executive chef, said. "Michelin’s acknowledgment of our team’s dedication to service and our craft is humbling, and we look forward to championing and aspiring toward the high standards the Guide represents in the year ahead.”Addison isn't the only local restaurant to receive recognition from the Michelin guide. Several restaurants were honored as "Bib Gourmand" establishments — "hidden gems" of San Diego.San Diego's Campfire, Cucina Sorella, Cucina Urbana, El Jardin, Juniper & Ivy, Kettner Exchange, Lola 55, and Solare were hailed for their "high-quality" menus for or less. The eight local restaurants will join 151 other Bib Gourmand picks in California's 2019 edition. The Michelin guide has been published since the early 20th century and is regarded as the oldest restaurant guide. Originally, publishers distributed the guide to provide travelers information on local hotels, restaurants, gas stations, mechanics, and maps.In 2005, Michelin published its first U.S. guide for New York City, covering hundreds of restaurants and hotels throughout the city's boroughs. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One of the joys of Christmas is waking up to a stocking filled with gifts. As a child, it's part of the wonder and magic of Santa.Even as we grow up, many people keep the tradition alive, simply because a Christmas stocking touches the child in all of us.And it's from that attachment, that an act of kindness was born.As a teenager, Jane Wesley Brooks began filling Christmas stockings for the homeless, and delivering them to those on the streets each Christmas Eve.Over 40 years, she has passed out thousands of stockings filled with caps, mittens, socks, shampoos, magazines, and even playing cards. Any small item that is new, clean and useful for those without a home.We surprised Jane with 10News Leadership Award. She accepts any appropriate new item at her law office all year long. Magazines are the only exception. They can be gently read prior to delivery. Here’s where you can donate:Jane Wesley Brooks, CFLSJWB Family Law1620 Fifth Avenue, Suite 600San Diego, CA 92101Phone: 619-234-6123 1026

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Point Loma families fighting to preserve a makeshift bike track are up against another setback. The land is owned by the San Diego Housing Commission, which recently hired an independent firm to do a feasibility study of the property. The firm looked at traffic, environmental factors, and the impact on schools; ultimately concluding it's feasible to build on the site. "Definitely heartbroken, this is such a special spot for our community," said Darren Miller, who often brings his boys to ride on the track. But Rick Gentry, President and CEO of the San Diego Housing Commission, says it's their job to create as much affordable housing in the city as possible. There are currently 80,000 people waiting for a Section 8 Housing Voucher. "The neighbors don't like to see the neighborhoods change, but change is going to happen, growth is going to occur. San Diego now is not producing enough housing to keep up with the rate of growth of the population," said Gentry. Miller and other neighbors have serious concerns about building on the land. "I don't know if they're necessarily opposed to affordable housing, I think they're just opposed to more development in an area that's already over-developed. In addition to just being an open space, it's a wetland," said Miller. The Housing Commission will be seeking developers for the project. They say the community will have several opportunities for input as the effort goes through the Planning Commission, Housing Commission, and City Council. 1527
