Bank of America announced on Tuesday that they plan to stop lending money to companies that make assault-style guns used for non-military purposes.During an interview on Bloomberg television, Bank of America Vice Chairman Anne Finucane said, “It’s not our intent to underwrite or finance military-style firearms on a go-forth basis.”According to Finucane, the firm has had “intense conversations over the last few months” with those kinds of gun manufacturers to let them know "it's our intention not to finance these military-style firearms for civilian use."According to CNBC, the bank is a lender to Vista Outdoor, Remington and Sturm Ruger.The move comes as part of a national movement addressing gun control that was put into motion after a gunman opened fire on a Florida high school killing 17 people. Mary Stringini is a Digital Reporter for ABC Action News. Barbie dolls have long inspired young girls with their beauty and fashion sense. Now they're inspiring them with their brains and bravado, too.On Tuesday, just ahead of International Women's Day, Barbie introduced a batch of new dolls based on real-life figures.The new dolls came after Mattel, maker of Barbie, conducted a survey of 8,000 mothers around the globe and found that 86% are worried about the kind of role models their daughters are exposed to."Girls have always been able to play out different roles and careers with Barbie and we are thrilled to shine a light on real life role models to remind them that they can be anything," wrote Lisa McKnight, senior vice president and general manager of Barbie, in a news release.This week Mattel introduced dolls in two separate series of Barbies: "Inspiring Women," based on historical figures, and new additions to its "Shero" line of dolls named for inspirational contemporary women.Both lines reflect the Barbie brand's highest honor: a one-of-a-kind doll made in a real woman's likeness.Inspiring WomenThe "Inspiring Women" dolls come with educational information about the contributions each woman made to society.One is Amelia Earhart, the first female aviator to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. Frida Kahlo, the renowned Mexican artist and activist, will be another.Barbie will also honor Katherine Johnson, a pioneer in mathematics who broke barriers of race and gender. Border patrol agents are used to seeing many strange things on the US-Mexico border.However, when they came across an abandoned black duffel bag Monday, they had to do a double take.While on duty, the agents saw three people attempting to enter the Unites States illegally, through Brownsville, Texas.The men dropped the bag as they fled back to Mexico.When agents approached, they found an unconscious male tiger stuffed inside.The nearly four-month-old cub appeared sedated and was turned over to the Gladys Porter Zoo.The-CNN-Wire 541

Before he crashed and died, the airline worker who stole and flew a passenger plane in the Seattle area Friday had a wide-ranging discussion with air traffic control -- at one point expressing confidence in his flying ability because "I've played some video games."In audio recordings posted on Broadcastify, the man can be heard both resisting and seeking help as a controller and others tried to guide the otherwise unoccupied Horizon Air plane to a landing.The Pierce County Sheriff's Department described the man as suicidal but did not elaborate. BALTIMORE, Md. – If you just walked into Atwater’s in Baltimore, it would probably seem like a normal café. But if you walked into the kitchen, you would meet Tayvon Brown. He’s the star of the show.“I’ve never met anyone that like has been so positive, constantly, no matter what,” said Morgan Johnson, who is Brown's co-worker.“One of those people that just lifts your spirits and makes you happy to be around," said Caitlin Gallagher, the manager at Atwater's.Brown has autism, but he hasn’t let that stop him from doing pretty much anything.“This is my sixth and a half job,” said Brown.He’s passionate about his job, washing dishes and prepping food“I got to keep these dishes nice and clean and sanitized. I got to keep everyone safe,” said Brown.And his artwork, which he gives to his coworkers.“Our office is decorated with all of Tayvon’s artwork, we have Tayvon’s artwork at the big kitchen, where we bake everything and we all get to take Tayvon’s art home and make our spaces more beautiful,” said Gallagher.He connects his fellow employees at Atwater’s. Gallagher says he’s the secret ingredient.“I don’t know what to compare it to except like the gluten of the staff that Tayvon is. He brings everyone together,” Gallagher said.Brown is just one person out of the 19% of Americans who have a disability who were employed in 2019, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.For comparison, 66% of people without disabilities held jobs last year.People with disabilities are also more than twice as likely to work only part-time.It’s not easy for those with disabilities to find work, no matter how much they may want to.It will take more businesses, like Atwater’s, having an open mind about hiring people like Brown.“We’ve worked with lots of folks with intellectual differences with physical differences, with different cultural backgrounds, different languages spoken, I do feel proud, I also feel like of course and maybe some impatience that this is a special case and it’s not a wider practice,” said Gallagher.While they can’t solve the issue of underemployment of people with intellectual disabilities, everyone at Atwater’s can enjoy their time with Brown, and every time he makes them smile.“It makes me feel like that I have a friend at work that can be nice to me, someone who can help me through my tough days,” said Johnson.“Tayvon can make any of bad days turnaround. He is just one of those people who lifts your spirits and makes you happy to be around,” said Gallagher. 2514
