LA MESA, Calif. "Turns out they had gone out to reposition it, moved their wheel chalk out fo the way, don't know if the parking break was set or what happened, but the truck was going down the road on its own."La Mesa officials are investigating how the truck became dislodged. No one was inside the building at the time of the crash. The church's pastor told 10News the building hit by the truck is home to a weekly Bible study held Wednesday nights. 905

LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV)— A La Mesa woman, who was the victim of a recent burglary, is opening up to 10News about her frightening experience. 10News met the woman at her home, in a quiet, secluded neighborhood in La Mesa. In the last four years she and her family have lived in the house, they have always felt safe. Until last Saturday. “To see the figure of a stranger in your home is an absolute worst nightmare,” the woman said. La Mesa Police said at around 11 pm, an intruder came through the side entrance, opened her gate, and walked into the home through the sliding door. That is when the homeowner heard a thump.“I have a three-year-old son, and looked at the monitor, and made sure it wasn’t him. He was fine,”  she said.  780

LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Police have released video after a 59-year-old woman was shot in the face with a bean bag round during a protest outside the La Mesa Police Department in late May.Police Wednesday also identified the officer involved in the incident as Eric Knudson, a 12-year veteran of the department. He is currently on paid leave.“Rest assured, the men and women of the La Mesa Police Department are committed to providing quality and professional police service to our community. It is my hope, that we will continue to heal the wounds, nurture an environment of open communication, and make La Mesa a safer place to live,” said LMPD Chief of Police Walt Vasquez.RELATED:La Mesa protestor shot in the forehead by a police bean bag is recovering in the ICULa Mesa protestor shot by a police bean bag released from hospital59-year-old Leslie Furcron was injured after a bean bag round was shot into a crowd of protesters on May 30. She was hospitalized following the incident and later released in June.Furcron was among the thousands of people in front of the department, where demonstrators gathered following the death of George Floyd.According to La Mesa Police, the San Diego County District Attorney has been briefed on the case and will review the investigation to determine if the officer bears any criminal liability.Furcron's attorney, Dante Pride, told 10News that he believes a third party should be investigating the case and the officer who fired the bean bag should face criminal charges if appropriate."There should never be a point in time where an officer should shoot a metal projectile bean bag from an elevated position down on a crowd. That is dangerous and it can kill people and it almost killed Ms. Furcron," Pride says. 1765

Lion Air Flight 610 was intact with its engines running when it crashed at high speed into the Java Sea, the head of Indonesia's National Transportation Safety Committee said Monday.Soerjanto Tjahjono said that due to the small size of the debris found and loss of the plane's engine blades, investigators determined that Flight 610 did not explode in the air, but was in "good shape" before it crashed 13 minutes after takeoff on Monday, October 29.Speaking with victims' families on Monday in Jakarta, Soerjanto said there was a technical problem with the brand new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft on the day of the crash. He did not provide further details about the problem.Authorities previously confirmed that the pilots flying the same plane on another route the day before the crash had experienced technical issues. The confirmation of Flight 610's condition comes as divers continue to search for the aircraft's missing cockpit voice recorder (CVR), commonly known as a black box, which could help investigators piece together the plane's final moments before it crashed, killing all 189 people on board. 1115
