SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Three Port of San Diego Harbor Police officers tested positive for coronavirus, the department announced Wednesday.After learning of the positive results, the Port of San Diego says it notified the department and port staff.The officers are isolated and undergoing treatment at their homes and will seek further care should it be necessary. Their condition is unclear at this time.The department also said it’s working with San Diego County health officials to conduct contract tracing and notify people who had close contact with the officers.“Prioritizing the health and well-being of the public, our partners, and Port employees and their families, the Port encourages and reminds the public, for their health as well as that of first responders, to wear face coverings, practice and maintain social distancing, wash hands frequently, and avoid crowded spaces and gatherings,” the Port of San Diego said in a news release. 953

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The ridesharing company, Lyft, is donating hundreds of thousands of dollars in ride credits to immigration groups throughout the country, including one in San Diego County. The company made the donation announcement on Monday, donating 0,000, calling the campaign "America is an Idea, Not a Geography." The Minority Humanitarian Foundation in Spring Valley received roughly ,000 in ride credits. The foundation's founder, Mark Lane, says the company's donation is a game changer for his organization. Lane explains that the money previously spent on rides can now go towards other things like food, clothing and other supplies. 10News spoke to multiple Lyft drivers in San Diego who said they wouldn't mind providing rides to migrants, as long as their pay didn't change. A few Lyft users told 10News they don't agree with Lyft's donation but said they would still continue to use the service.During the month of July, Lyft is also matching donations to RAICES up to ,000. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Thousands of San Diego County jury trials are on-hold because of the pandemic. Local court officials have requested another extension from the Judicial Council of California for jury trials to be postponed through mid-September.On Monday, ABC10 News spoke to San Diego Superior Court Presiding Judge Lorna Alksne about the challenges of returning to jury trials. “We’re at 25-hundred jury trials that need to be tried,” she told us.Trials were halted on March 17th. Non-jury trials are currently in progress through a remote virtual process. “What we can't do right now is bring a jury into the courthouse. When you can't even go to a restaurant to eat, the idea of bringing hundreds of people in to sit in a room together is not recommended,” she told ABC10 News.Courtrooms are being retrofitted with plexiglass barriers to protect everyone from jurors to defendants to court staff. Judge Alksne said other safety measures like social distancing will also be implemented, when appropriate.“Once you do resume the process of summoning jurors, what if they just don't feel comfortable? They fear the risk?” we asked. “Jury service is a duty that we hold in high regard. We can't have criminal justice service work without jurors so I would hope that by the time we actually pull jurors in and ask them to come down that unless they have a health condition that would make it unsafe here, that they would be willing to serve,” she responded.The court is still working through other complex issues like the possible need for more alternate jurors. “In other jurisdictions where they have tried to start jury trials up and down the State of California, one juror getting COVID-19 or having symptoms will send everyone home and you'll have a mistrial,” she added.Judge Alksne also said there are currently about 300 violent felony defendants in custody who are waiting to be tried. 1903

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego Police Department is looking for four instruments that were stolen from the San Diego Junior Theatre over the weekend.Junior Theater Executive Director James Saban said two guitars and two bass guitars were taken sometime Friday night or Saturday morning.They are described as a white Fender Stratocaster with a checkered strap, a red Epiphone archtop guitar, a seafoam and white Fender bass guitar and a cream Fender Mustang bass guitar.“It was my prized possession, my baby,” said Oliver Davis of his Fender Stratocaster. “So finding out it was stolen was a bummer.”Davis plays the guitar on stage as part of his character. After discovering it was missing Saturday morning, he said he and the other musicians had to rush to find replacements so they could perform their matinee.“Everyone was getting loaned instruments,” he said.The theater has filed a police report but the instruments have not yet been found.Anyone with information can call the San Diego Police Department at 619-531-2000. 1036
