Fauci said the announcement was promising, but a few more questions need to be addressed before it is given approval. Fauci said that things like the vaccine’s durability and effect on the elderly are among concerns that still need to be tackled.“We may have doses that we’re able to give to people by the end of November, beginning of December,” Fauci told CNN’s Blitzer. “Now you have to go through the hoops of making sure all of the I’s are dotted and the T’s are crossed about the safety and regulatory aspects of it, but we would be giving vaccine, very likely, by the end of this year. That is good news.”Last month, the FDA put into place guidelines on approving a vaccine, which was more restrictive than what the White House had hoped for. The FDA noted that a vaccine candidate must be at least 50% effective. EL CAJON (CNS) - A resident at an East County independent-living facility was ordered Thursday to stand trial on a murder charge for allegedly killing a fellow resident by beating him in the face and head with a frying pan following an early morning argument.Brad Masaru Payton, 26, faces 26 years to life in state prison if convicted of the murder charge and an allegation of personally using a deadly weapon in the killing of Matthew McCarthy.Police said the violence at the transitional group home in the 1200 block of Naranca Avenue in El Cajon was reported shortly before 5 a.m. last Dec. 20. Patrol officers arrived to find a badly beaten McCarthy in a bedroom at the residence, said El Cajon Police Lt. Payton was arrested without incident.According to Miller, the victim and the defendant knew each other and lived in separate rooms. DULZURA, Calif. (CNS) -- Firefighters were working Tuesday to extinguish a brush fire that has charred at least 100 acres of vegetation near the U.S.-Mexico border.The so-called Border 11 Fire was reported around 8:30 p.m. Monday in a mountainous area west of Marron Valley and south of Dulzura, Cal Fire Capt. Issac Sanchez said, adding that no homes or structures were immediately threatened.The fire was located in an area that was difficult to access, but heavy cloud cover and high humidity Tuesday morning was helping to keep the flames at bay, Sanchez said.Crews requested an air attack to help crews on the ground, but aircraft were unable to fly Tuesday morning because of the heavy cloud cover, he said. A better estimate about the size of the fire will be available once air crews are able to survey the area.The cause of the fire was under investigation.As of 3:30 p.m., the fire was 60 percent contained. 926

(KGTV) - A 4.1 magnitude earthquake shook the Lake Tahoe-area town of Truckee, California Thursday.The quake happened at 3:08 p.m. and was five kilometers north-northwest of Dollar Point in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range.People in Sacramento also felt the shaking about 120 miles away, according to the U.S. Geological Survey map.There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries. 419
