(AP) — Defense contractor Northrop Grumman will be moving secret cargo through a Southern California marina this weekend.The Daily Breeze reports part of King Harbor Marina in Redondo Beach will be shut down from 5 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Sunday for the move of what is described as a U.S. Navy demonstration project.The large object will be taken from a Northrop Grumman facility in Redondo Beach to a barge for shipment to San Diego.The newspaper says that during a Redondo Beach City Council meeting this week, Northrop Grumman officials cited national security concerns in declining to provide information about the object.The company agreed on Oct. 15 to pay the city ,000 for a licensing agreement to use the marina and for any costs the city incurs. 787

President Donald Trump spent Thursday grappling with how to prevent more school massacres and address the gun debate gripping the country, offering solutions such as giving bonuses to teachers who undergo gun training."These people are cowards. They're not going to walk into a school if 20% of the teachers have guns -- it may be 10% or may be 40%. And what I'd recommend doing is the people that do carry, we give them a bonus. We give them a little bit of a bonus," Trump said. "They'll frankly feel more comfortable having the gun anyway. But you give them a little bit of a bonus."He repeated his suggestion that some teachers get trained to handle firearms as a deterrent to shooters and disparaged "gun-free zones.""I don't want teachers to have guns. A gun-free zone, to a killer, or somebody that wants to be a killer, that's like going in for the ice cream. PROVO, Utah — Unproven conspiracy theories about COVID-19 have caused a group of people to try and breach a local hospital, officials say.The group, fueled by the unsubstantiated theory that hospitals are misrepresenting capacity levels, has attempted to break into the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo.The hospital recently reported during a Provo City Council meeting "that a few individuals without a medical need have attempted to gain physical access to the facility with the intent try to confirm fake conspiracy theories — such as hospitals are not busy and that reports of the COVID-19 surge are false."It was unclear if anyone was arrested or cited for the disturbances."Hospital staff have also fielded some telephone calls regarding similar false conspiracy theories. Although these situations are few and isolated, stopping attempts to gain inappropriate access and responding to fake conspiracy theories diverts attention from providing lifesaving care provided at the hospitals," said Intermountain Healthcare, which operates Utah Valley Hospital, in a statement. "COVID-19 is real and the hospital is seeing large increases in patients with the virus. Staff are stretched and are working many extra hours to meet community needs. We ask the public to join with us, mask up, wash hands, social distance, and stay home when sick so we can care overcome the challenges of this pandemic in our communities."On Thursday, Utah saw its highest number of new COVID-19 cases in a single day — nearly 4,000 and nine new deaths.Hospital capacity is at 87%, meaning many medical centers are running out of places and staff to take care of those who contract the deadly virus.The surge in cases in Utah comes as the virus spreads uncontrollably around the country. RAMONA, Calif. (KGTV) - The Fund for the Animals Wildlife Center is at capacity while it cares for a record number of patients.At the center, experts rehabilitate animals they hope to release back into the wild. Most of the predators are kept in the back of the 13 acre property to keep humans from imprinting on them, affecting their ability to survive after release.Staff take extreme care and 'secretly' feed their animals.From January 1to July 1, the center cared for 588 animals. As of Friday, they're currently caring for more than 100, and at capacity.Some of their animals documented in pictures provided to 10News, like an orphaned badger, the first badger the center has had in 20 years. They also have a Great-Horned Owl which was hit by a car."Our patients are one of three things, they're unfortunately orphaned, or ill or injured," director Matt Anderson said.They've seen 35 percent more patients compared to the same time last year, meaning they're caring for 154 more animals."It's what we call baby season, everybody expects it, it's a hectic time, all hands to the deck, the staff are wonderful so we're pushing forward and already have some success stories," Anderson said.The Center is funded through donations and The Humane Society of the US, those dollars critical now more than ever. Another factor behind the boom, higher rain levels meant more food all the way up the food chain."Lots more plant life, and lots more to eat for the prey items that our predators eat," he said that's also what brings predators into our neighborhoods."They're really really good at finding their own food, and so it's best to let them alone in their habitat and enjoy them from a distance," Anderson said.Reminding us how important it is to leave the animals alone so they can survive, go back into that sensitive ecosystem and keep it in balance. 1863
