Two weeks after being grounded by the FAA, a Boeing 737 Max airplane en route from Orlando, Florida, to Victorville, California, had to return to Orlando International Airport to make an emergency landing Tuesday afternoon, the Associated Press reported. The jet, which was being shuttled to California for storage, only had two pilots on board. The jet belongs to Southwest Airlines, according to the AP.The Boeing 737 Max was grounded by US officials two weeks ago following the second deadly crash involving the series of planes. The AP reported that the emergency was not related to a glitch in the anti-stall software, which investigators believe caused the two previous planes to crash. On March 13, the FAA released a statement that said, "The grounding (of Boeing 737 Max planes) will remain in effect pending further investigation, including examination of information from the aircraft’s flight data recorders and cockpit voice recorders. An FAA team is in Ethiopia assisting the NTSB as parties to the investigation of the Flight 302 accident. The agency will continue to investigate." 1108

Two children were killed and nine people were injured Monday evening after a man driving a stolen police cruiser crashed at high speed into a SUV and a minivan in Dayton, Ohio, police said. The suspect, Raymond Andrew Walters Jr., was driving 97 mph when he ran a red light and plowed into the two vehicles, Dayton Police Chief Richard Biehl said at a press conference Tuesday.Walters had been on active parole, and police suspect methamphetamine may have played a part in the incident, Biehl said. The incident unfolded when Walters' father was trying to take his son to a hospital for mental health issues, but when the suspect realized where they were going, he began assaulting his father, Biehl said.Suspect stole a police cruiser, police saidThe suspect left his father bleeding from head and face wounds, and took off in his father's Chevy truck, Biehl said.Walters crashed the truck into a tree in nearby Riverside, Dayton police said. When a Riverside officer responding to a 911 call about the accident got out of his police cruiser to check on the driver, the suspect got in and took control of the cruiser from the passenger side, Biehl said. The Riverside officer tased Walters twice, Biehl said, but that didn't stop the suspect from taking off in the cruiser.Running the police lights and sirens, Walters reached a maximum speed of 101 mph, Biehl said. He was not being pursued by police at the time of the accident, the police chief said. The Honda minivan was carrying seven children and one adult, all family members, Biehl said. There were three adults in the SUV, the police said.Another child is badly hurt, police saidAll occupants were taken to local hospitals and at least three of them were in life-threatening condition when they were transported, Lt. Eric Henderson said. Two of the children later died, he said.A third child remains in critical condition, Biehl said. Two Riverside officers sustained minor injuries when the suspect struck their vehicle. The suspect was injured in the crash and is in stable condition in a hospital, Biehl said. The police cruiser broke into several parts when it hit the minivan, Biehl said. Still, "counterforce was necessary to take Walters into custody," according to a police presentation.Walters' criminal history includes aggravated burglary and robbery, possession of drugs, domestic violence and assault, police said. He was released from prison in August. 2430

When Amy Anderson and her son walked into George Washington High School years ago they felt a gut-wrenching reaction, coming face to face with a larger than life mural depicting images of slavery and dead Native Americans.Tuesday evening, after decades of debate and outcry, the San Francisco Unified School District unanimously voted to cover up this 1936-era fresco, "Life of Washington."A fight started in the 1960sThe mural was commissioned by the US Government in 1936 under a New Deal art program and painted by well-known muralist Victor Arnautoff.During the Civil Rights Movement in the late 1960's, members of school's Black Student Union called for the removal of the mural.Instead of removing the mural then, the District hired black artist Dewey Crumpler to paint a "response mural," showing Native Americans and African Americans in a more positive light.Three years ago, the call for removal was reignited when Anderson's son Kai decided to enroll at Washington High.A Native American student at Washington HighAnderson and her son are Native American. Kai told his mom he would walk into school with his head down everyday so he would not have to see the murals on the wall."They (Native students) actually see themselves and their ancestors up there on those walls and they feel pain," said Anderson. In late fall of 2018, Anderson and fellow indigenous activist Mariposa Villaluna drafted a resolution to send to Mark Sanchez, a school board commissioner. The move resulted in the creation of the district's Reflection and Action Committee to decide what to do about the "Life of Washington" mural. In February, the committee recommended to the school board that the mural should be covered in white paint before the start of the 2019 school year.At odds with school valuesThe committee argued that the mural did not live up to the district's student-centered focus and did not represent its values of social justice, diversity, and unity. It added that the mural glorified slavery, genocide, and oppression. At Tuesday evening's school board meeting, those in favor of keeping the mural argued the that artist intended to provoke thoughtful discussions about oppression and that the mural could be used as a teaching tool for future generations.Villaluna said the school can find ways to teach these issues without students having to pass by the mural each morning."The students thought this would be good as a lesson but not something we walk by every day," said Villaluna.According to the 2517

WASHINGTON (AP) — The husband of a woman who died accidentally in an office of then-GOP Rep. Joe Scarborough two decades ago is demanding Twitter remove President Donald Trump's tweets suggesting Scarborough murdered her. Lori Klausutis died in Scarborough's Florida office in 2001.Timothy Klausutis asked Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey in a letter last week to delete Trump's tweets.Twitter says it's working to "more effectively address things like this going forward." Trump has feuded with Scarborough, who hosts MSNBC's "Morning Joe" show. Trump has tried to implicate Scarborough in the death even though Scarborough wasn't in Florida at the time. Scarborough has urged Trump to stop. Medical officials ruled Lori Klausutis fainted and hit her head. 760
