BEIJING, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Prices of farm produce in China have inched up for the fifth straight week during the week ending August 19, the Ministry of Commerce said Tuesday.

The consumer price index (CPI), a major gauge of inflation, is estimated to grow by 1.7 percent year on year in July, slower than the 2.2-percent growth seen in June, the Industrial Bank said in a report, citing the slowing economy and a high comparative base from last year.

While global giants like Apple and Samsung Electronics dominate the high-end market, domestic smartphone makers such as Huawei and Xiaomi Technology have eyed middle- or low-end markets with lower-priced products.
