SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police and Crime Stoppers released photos Wednesday in the search for the burglars responsible for taking half a million dollars’ worth of items during break-in at the Fashion Valley Hermes de Paris store.Up to 10 people got out of three vehicles at the north end of the mall about 4:15 a.m. on Sunday, January 18. Surveillance video shows the group approaching the store and using a pry bar to open the front door.The group stole purses, jewelry and clothing worth 0,000 in just two minutes.RELATED: San Diego mall burglars steal from HermesPolice said the group wore hooded sweatshirts and gloves. The vehicles used for the heist were a white Chevy Suburban and two blue sedans with paper license plates.Investigators conducting follow-ups uncovered new surveillance photos of people they believe to be responsible for the crime.The pictures show three men inside a market. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Residents downtown are fighting against adding more low-income housing. They say it's only making the homeless problem worse. Merle Jones moved to this East Village high rise for the views and the lush lifestyle."It's categorized as a luxury apartment complex, and there's nothing really luxury about it at all right now," said Jones. Homeless people frequent the streets and sidewalks outside the property. "There was a knife fight that broke out and that was in the afternoon," said Jones. "My girlfriend she's not even comfortable walking outside alone so its an issue."In an effort to fight the deadly Hepatitis A outbreak,  more shelters and housing solutions are popping up downtown. One of them is a 16-story high rise for low-income families on 14th and Commercial Streets. "I don’t believe that's a good idea," said Jones. "I think they need to clean up the area because when you have that type of housing, it attracts attention from other areas."The high rise is one of five Father Joe's projects to add about 2,500 affordable housing units. One-third of them would be downtown. More than 500 people signed an online petition to move more housing solutions to other parts of the county. "I think it would be a nice distribution of the concentration of it so that way it's not just one area and one area's problem," said Jones. For now, he's stuck paying high rent for a view he's not happy with.  "I pay quite a bit, so I expect a certain level of lifestyle when I'm living here," said Jones. "When my lease is up, I do plan on moving towards the other end of downtown that’s a little safer and a lot cleaner."The building is set to open January 2021.  1830

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Ring video captured a man leaping into action, after an incident at a neighbor's Mira Mesa home.Just off Parkdale Avenue, Rod Hutty ran to the front yard in his sandals and saw some frantic neighbors last Wednesday afternoon."I heard a scream and two women came out. One had a stick and shouted, 'Stop,'" said Hutty. Video shows what happened next. Hutty says he spotted a man in his early 20s, who started running."My adrenaline kicked in. I knew something was wrong. I shouted at him," said Hutty.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodHutty gave chase. He saw another man running in a different direction, causing Hutty to go after him. What isn't seen on camera is Hutty catching up to him."I went like this and he went like this, and grabbed him and almost took him to the ground. Then he got away," said Hutty.Hutty chased them for a bit, before heading back to get his bike. He never saw them again. Witnesses spotted a blue minivan picking up the two men. Hutty later got a visit from the Eggum family, receiving a big "thank you." Hutty's cousin placed the video on the Neighbors by Ring app."Did the best he could ... appreciate neighbors helping out," said Gordon Eggum.Eggum says his wife saw the two men lurking in the backyard after hopping the fence.
