Band-Aid is doing its part to address racial disparities by introducing a line of bandages in light, medium and deep shades of black and brown skin tones.The brand, owned by Johnson & Johnson, made the announcement on Instagram last week, saying the intent is to “embrace the beauty of diverse skin.”“We are dedicated to inclusivity and providing the best healing solutions, better representing you,” the brand continued.Additionally, Band-Aid said it will be making a donation to Black Lives Matter as a first of many steps to help address systemic racism.A Band-Aid spokesperson told CNN that it will be a 0,000 donation, in addition to the million that its parent company has committed to fight racism and injustice in the U.S. over the next three years.While Band-Aid’s new line is a step in the right direction, other brands have been doing this for some time now.For example, Tru-Colour Products was founded by a white father in 2014 who wanted to celebrate his adopted black son’s identity. Another example is Browndages, a black-owned bandage company founded by a husband and wife who were trying to fill a void in the market.Band-Aid itself has sold multiracial bandages in the past. In 2005, the brand launched its Perfect Blend products, but the company discontinued them because of “lack of interest at the time,” Band-Aid told CNN. Bank of America announced on Tuesday that they plan to stop lending money to companies that make assault-style guns used for non-military purposes.During an interview on Bloomberg television, Bank of America Vice Chairman Anne Finucane said, “It’s not our intent to underwrite or finance military-style firearms on a go-forth basis.”According to Finucane, the firm has had “intense conversations over the last few months” with those kinds of gun manufacturers to let them know "it's our intention not to finance these military-style firearms for civilian use."According to CNBC, the bank is a lender to Vista Outdoor, Remington and Sturm Ruger.The move comes as part of a national movement addressing gun control that was put into motion after a gunman opened fire on a Florida high school killing 17 people. BORREGO SPRINGS, Calif. (KGTV) - California State Parks are preparing for wildflower blooms across the state. The unpredictable and rare occurrences attract thousands of people to the parks. Some of the most beautiful blooms take place in desert landscapes. These rare blooms occur when precipitation levels in the areas are high, combined with years-long drought that eliminate grasses and weeds that take up nutrients. These conditions cause wildflowers to thrive. Vibrant wildflowers can already be seen sprouting from the typically barren brown soil in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.“This area is just a mosaic of a painter’s colors," said Danny McCamish, Senior Environmental Scientist for the Colorado Desert District and Anza-Borrego State Park.RELATED: Photos: Gorgeous spring bloom carpets Anza Borrego desert"The early October, November rains started that germination process early this year, and so as the December, January, and February rains came in, all of the area was ripe to go off like this."Cooler temperatures are also a factor in prolonging the bloom, which the region has been experiencing thanks to snow in the mountains. McCamish says during the 2017 'super bloom' word of the beauty spread fast on social media, drawing in 6,000 to 7,000 cars a day.He says the rush of visitors overwhelmed the small town of Borrego Springs but that this year they're more prepared. Restaurants are planning to offer to-go meals and rangers will set up pop-up visitor centers to spread out where visitors go.McCamish recommends people check out other parts of the 700,000-acre region, including Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area.And if you plan to spend the night figure out lodging ahead of time, whether that be a hotel or camping.In addition to the flowers, visitors can enjoy nature on a bike. BOCA RATON, Fla. – The head of an electronic voting company that's being targeted by allies of President Donald Trump said baseless claims that it helped flip the 2020 election for Joe Biden threaten to undermine Americans’ faith in democracy.The chief executive of Florida-based Smartmatic said in a statement Monday that the baseless claims will hurt the company's bottom line.Starting last week, the company sent letters to Trump's attorney Rudy Giuliani, Fox News, Newsmax, One America News Network and others, demanding a complete retraction.Trump’s allies have maintained that software developed by Smartmatic altered the 2020 election results. Fact-checkers have debunked the far-fetched claims, while Trump’s own attorney general and cybersecurity officials have found no evidence of voter fraud.Smartmatic says the organizations and individuals in question could have easily discovered the falsity of the statements and implications made about the company by investigating their statements before publishing or speaking.“They have no evidence to support their attacks on Smartmatic because there is no evidence. This campaign was designed to defame Smartmatic and undermine legitimately conducted elections,” said Antonio Mugica, CEO of Smartmatic. “Our efforts are more than just about Smartmatic or any other company.
