Though President Donald Trump remains hospitalized with a COVID-19 infection, it didn't stop him Monday morning from sending more than a dozen tweets — most of them in all caps — urging his supporters to vote for him on Election Day.Between 6:30 a.m. ET and 7:30 a.m. ET on Monday morning, Trump tweeted at least 17 times — most of which were completely in capital letters and included a policy position or administration goal followed by the call to "VOTE!"It was the most active the president has been on Twitter since his hospitalization on Friday. Typically a prolific user of Twitter, Trump has tweeted 14 times since he confirmed his COVID-19 diagnosis on Friday, many of those coming as retweets.Trump's tweetstorm comes as the nation is still mostly in the dark regarding his condition. Throughout the weekend, the president's doctors painted a relatively rosy picture regarding Trump's bout with the disease. However, his doctors declined to share when Trump's last negative test was, how high his fever reached and other important vitals. His doctors also reported Sunday multiple instances in which Trump's blood oxygen levels dropped significantly — something that was not mentioned the day before. The doctors' reports also contradict Saturday comments from White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, who called the president's condition on Friday "very concerning" and added that Sunday and Monday would be "critical" in his fight against the virus.Through several photos and videos released by the White House, Trump has attempted to maintain the appearance of wellness. Despite his infection with a highly contagious disease, Trump left the hospital briefly on Sunday for a ride in a Secret Service vehicle in front of the hospital to wave to his supporters. 1780

There is a lot of concern along the Gulf Coast right now. Two tropical systems are headed for the area at the same time, potentially impacting land on the same day. It's very rare according to the National Weather Service (NWS), something we haven't seen in decades. What's most concerning, is the amount of people in the path of the storms.“The number of people that could be impacted by these two systems is huge, you know, from the northern part of Texas, throughout the entire coast of west side of Florida and the panhandle as well,” said Joel Cline, a meteorologist and NWS Tropical Program Coordinator.Large amounts of rain, storm surge and wind are threatening the Gulf Coast early next week. So, could these systems merge? It's something called the Fujiwhara effect. It's named after a Japanese meteorologist who first described the effect. It's something that happens in the pacific with typhoons.“That’s where two come in close contact and then they move around each other counterclockwise,” said Cline. “That's not going to happen in this one.”There is another potential impact of these systems being close to each other.“So, when you have two of these in one area, then the descending air may get into the other one and help weaken it or make the other one stronger,” said Cline. There's still a lot of time for things to change. Regardless, meteorologists say people in the paths of these storms need to be hurricane ready.“Labor Day is essentially the halfway point and so we've got a lot more hurricane season left and what we’ve already been through,” said Cline. 1584

Tijuana, B.C. (KGTV) — As Christmas approaches, decorations are up around Tijuana but much of the city has shut down. According to ABC 10News’ media partner Televisa, the state of Baja California has had almost 27,000 COVID-19 cases and nearly 5,000 deaths since the start of the pandemic. For comparison, San Diego County's had startling 97,549 cases but far fewer deaths. As of Thursday, 1,103 deaths had been reported. On Thursday morning, ABC 10News spoke to Televisa anchor Estephania Báez about how hospital capacities across the border are maxed out, pulling the city out of its less restrictive orange tier and back into its most restrictive red tier. That hasn’t happened since the summer.“The difference between now and then is that now people don't have fear with COVID-19 here and [people have] to go to work so they prefer to [become] positive rather than to lose a day of money,” she added.Baez said there's concern over both apathies to wearing masks and resistance to any news of a vaccine. “They don't even want to get vaccinated. We have heard in several places that people are afraid and they don't trust even the authorities,” she told ABC 10News.Baja California's red tier restrictions are in place through at least Dec. 20, meaning widespread closures. “That includes schools, gyms, spas, museums, pools, movie theaters, churches, and amusement parks,” said Baez. Restaurants and hotels can operate at a very limited capacity.Televisa also reports that the high cost of testing and limited locations to get testing done continues to be a deterrent for many people. 1592

TIJUANA, Mexico. (KGTV) -- The female passenger of the truck that plowed into a row of street vendors and vehicles waiting to cross the Mexican-U.S. border Monday afternoon says she and the driver were fleeing an attack before the chaotic scene broke out. Summer Draper, who was injured during the incident and is being treated at Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest, says she and her boyfriend were visiting Tijuana from Utah when the incident occurred.Draper tells 10News the couple went to Tijuana to shop when their truck was allegedly attacked while asking for directions. RELATED: Tijuana crash suspect drove on suspended license“If we would have stopped the car we would have been dead. We had to run from these people they were attacking us,” Draper said. Draper says the pair didn’t make it to the shops, but instead, tried to reroute to the Costco back by the border. That’s when she says they asked for help. “They said the only way they'd be able to help is if he drove.”Draper says her boyfriend Frank Stricker, 29, was driving and, while he was hesitant, gave in and let the man help. “Instead of going left to Costco he’s going right,” Draper said, adding that’s when her boyfriend started yelling for the man to pull over. “In two seconds the guy pulls over the car and there’s a cop.”Draper remembers hearing gunfire before she says Stricker hit the gas to get away. Minutes later, she says they reached the border, but while stopped in the lanes, they were attacked. RELATED: Witness to U.S.-Mexico border crash describes chaos in TijuanaShe says that’s when her boyfriend rammed their truck through the crowd in an attempt to escape, adding that a row of vendor carts offered the only evacuation route. Draper says the couple were shot at and their tires slashed. Images from the scene show their truck stopped in a mangled mess while a few dozen people surround the vehicle. One video shows Stricker lying on top of a bloodied Draper outside the truck, seemingly to protect her from the crowd. After the crash, Draper was taken to the hospital where she claims to have been tortured. “They tortured, they laughed at me they had everyone taking pictures of me they seriously did all of this with no medicine I mean I felt everything,” she said. According to Draper, she spent the night at the hospital before being brought to the U.S. for further treatment. Stricker is currently in the custody of Mexican authorities and is facing attempted homicide charges. Videos and images from the incident show that Stricker also suffered injuries, his condition is unknown at this time.According to court documents from Utah, Stricker has drug charges extending back to 2008, including possession or use of a controlled substance, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia. Mexican law officials are continuing to investigate the incident and have not yet released details.Tijuana news station Televisa reported the truck struck over a dozen vehicles waiting to cross into the U.S. and ran down least four people, including one person who suffered severe injuries.RELATED: Truck with Utah plates strikes vendors, other cars at U.S.-Mexico borderPolice and fire crews closed down traffic at the border for about 20 minutes.
