Eating more chocolate as the pandemic stretches on? You’re not alone. Sales data during the coronavirus pandemic has shown people are buying more snacks and sweet treats. The trend is continuing and appears to be skewing toward chocolate.Americans are favoring chocolate over other kinds of candy according to data from the National Confectioners Association. Looking at sales from mid-March through early August, all candy sales are up 3.8 percent during this time period. Chocolate sales are up 5.5 percent, and premium chocolate sales are up 12.5 percent.“Consumers appreciate and value chocolate and candy during these uncertain times because of their uncanny ability to boost moods and lighten perspectives, according to new data from NCA,” the organization said in their press release.The trade organization representing the candy industry found that sales of sweet treats at grocery stores have grown by double-digits. You should, because you might be donating your identity to thieves.“We see credit cards; we see passports, birth certificates, social security cards, tax information,” says Travis Carlson with Goodwill of Denver.Sensitive documents, often with personal information, are accidentally left in donations delivered to places like Goodwill.“We see things tucked inside bed sheets, inside books, little boxes,” says Carlson. “Often times, we think people think they just forgot about it; they didn't know it was inside that item. Or perhaps they’re donating something on behalf of a family member who passed away. We see that a lot, unfortunately.”Different Goodwill stores have different policies, but the Goodwill of Denver in Colorado has a loss prevention box at their locations.“We have all kinds of credit cards, driver’s licenses, certificates, checks, things like that,” says Carlson.But experts say you shouldn't rely on the donation site to safely dispose of personal information. EL CAJON (KGTV) -- Authorities are working to clear a fuel spill Sunday afternoon after a small plane crashed landed onto a quiet El Cajon neighborhoodThe plane crashed sometime around 2 p.m. at 2nd Street and El Rey in El Cajon.The pilot was en route to Gillispie Field, a little more than a mile from where it crashed.Authorities say two people were on board the aircraft but suffered no injuries.There was a small fuel leak following the crash and the plane knocked down some wires when it crash landed.  Police are asking the public to avoid the area until about 4 p.m. Sunday.This is a developing story.  Stay with 10News for updates. 687
