None of the countries that make up the G20 group of major world economies is on course to adequately reduce climate change, with 82% of the bloc's energy supply still coming from fossil fuels, a new report has warned.Of the countries, only India has set targets that would keep global temperature rise below 2 degrees Celsius, the upper limit recommended by the Paris Climate Agreement, if adopted globally.Overall, the world is heading for a 3.2-degree rise, the organization Climate Transparency said, in an analysis of the G20's current emissions-cutting targets for 2030 published Wednesday.Targets set by the worst offenders -- Russia, Saudi Arabia and Turkey -- would lead to a rise of more than 4 degrees if they were adopted worldwide, the report added.The G20 comprises representatives from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the European Union, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States.The landmark Paris Agreement, drafted in 2015, resulted in an aim to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees compared to pre-industrial levels, with 2 degrees set as an upper limit.But the report cautions that those targets are virtually impossible to reach at current rates. It follows similar warnings made last month by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which found that the earth will reach the crucial 1.5 degree threshold as early as 2030."The G20 economies actually need to cut their emissions by half by 2030 to keep warming below 1.5°C," said Jan Burck, senior adviser at equality NGO Germanwatch, one of the report's authors. NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- A United States Air Force Pilot was killed Wednesday morning when his F-16 Fighting Falcon jet crashed outside Las Vegas, the Air Force said. The pilot died when his F-16 Fighting Falcon jet crashed during a routine aerial demonstration training flight at 10:30 a.m. His name has not yet been released. An investigation is being conducted into the cause of the mishap. The team’s participation at the March Air Reserve Base “The March Field Air & Space Expo” has been canceled.  It is unknown how this accident will impact the remainder of the 2018 Thunderbirds Season.   674

NEW YORK — A Manhattan prosecutor trying to get President Donald Trump’s tax returns told a judge that he was justified in demanding them, citing public reports of “extensive and protracted criminal conduct at the Trump Organization.” Trump’s lawyers last month said the grand jury subpoena for the tax returns was issued in bad faith and amounted to harassment of the president. Manhattan District Attorney District Attorney Cyrus R. NEW YORK — New York City residents may not be able to eat inside their favorite restaurant until next year.Restrictions around the rest of the state have been eased, but New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is holding off on lifting restrictions on a number of indoor activities."If folks miss the theater, if they miss, you know, the indoor dining, those things will be back," he said Monday. "They'll be back next year at some point. I think that is overwhelmingly the case."He pointed to indoor dining and drinking at bars as a source of the spread of coronavirus cases around the world, but members of the restaurant industry are outraged.They pointed to a Bronx IHOP just across from a Panera Bread that's in Westchester County. Under current restrictions, the IHOP can't have customers, but the Panera Bread has been seating customers inside for more than a month.NYC Hospitality Alliance Executive Director Andrew Rigie warned that workers' livelihoods are at stake."The other week it was, we may not open until we have a vaccine. Then it's we may not open until the new year," Rigie said.The NYC Hospitality Alliance may pursue legal action over the issue. Rigie pointed to restaurants in just over the Queens-Long Island border in Nassau County that are open for indoor dining."Right now, you can sit indoors at a diner in Nassau county, but basically across the street in Queens, you can't," he said. "You can do the same thing in the Bronx. If you go into Westchester County, people are eating indoors. So is COVID somehow different there? I don't think so."Scott Hart, co-owner of 44 & X in Hell's Kitchen, said he was surprised by de Blasio's remarks on reopening Monday."It just doesn't seem like there was a real plan," he said. "To hear that today makes me feel like I don't know how we're going to make it through the winter."Hart spent money to create an outdoor seating area and is currently operating at 35 percent, but he's worried about the weather since colder temperatures are around the corner."If we close because of cold weather, what are we going to do? Put everybody in furlough again for five months again until spring? No one likes to step in the "you-know-what" that dogs leave behind. Thanks to science, some Wisconsin apartment complexes are finding out exactly what dog, and what owner is responsible for those unattended piles. "It resolved issues immediately," said Ed Muisenga, the property manager at Prairie Grass Living in Pewaukee. He says they implemented the dog DNA policy from the beginning. It's built into their pet policy so when dogs move in, their cheeks are swabbed and their DNA stored in a registry through the company PooPrints Wisconsin.Then if Muisenga finds any waste that hasn't been picked up, they can send it to a lab to be tested, and eventually matched to one of the resident's dogs. "A lot of people thought it was a cool idea, I do too," he said. "It was kind of something I thought was funny in the beginning but it made a lot of sense." Diane and Frank Busateri don't live in a complex with this policy but nearby. They said most dog owners in their community are responsible. "It's kind of weird," said Diane. "I think it's unnecessary if people are willing to cooperate with each other," added Frank. If the DNA test proves an owner didn't pick up their dog's poop, the Prairie Grass Living complex imposes a fee that's between 0 and 0. But for the most part, the policy leads to more accountability, according to Anna Schloesser, the owner of PooPrints Wisconsin. She says they have 60 properties in the state using this service and most property owners have reported very little issue with waste left behind. "You have 'he said she said' and you can't figure out who did it," she said. "This is just an easy way to pinpoint where it came from and solve the problem."The company says some municipalities are even considering implementing a similar policy, so waste left behind in parks or other public places could also be tracked.  1942
