Hurricane watches were issued Wednesday afternoon for part of the Louisiana Gulf Coast as an unnamed tropical system is expected to gain strength. As of 4 p.m. CT, the storm which is being called for now "potential tropical cyclone two," was located 255 miles south east of Morgan City, Louisiana. With maximum sustained winds of 30 MPH, the system has not attained tropical depression status. The National Hurricane Center said it expects the system to become a depression tonight and a tropical storm tomorrow. The next named storm in the Atlantic will be Barry.By Saturday afternoon, the storm is expected to be a hurricane as it approaches the Louisiana Gulf Coast. The forecast cone still keeps open the possibility the storm slides to the west, giving the Upper Texas Coast a direct hit. The hurricane watch goes from the Mouth of the Mississippi River westward to Cameron Louisiana.Due to the slow movement of the disturbance, heavy rainfall is already occurring along the Gulf Coast. This space is now home to items that were once part of the illegal wildlife trade and confiscated by law enforcement both within the U.S. and from the country’s ports of entry.“What we’re collecting here are the specimens either seized or confiscated from ports of entry to the United States,” Metzer said. Her job is to educate people about this one-of-a-kind collection. “If they are in some violation of one of our federal wildlife laws, they have the potential to end up here.”The illegal wildlife trade involves the unlawful harvest or trade of animals, plants, or any products made from them, according to U.S. Fish and Wildlife. Wagenaar says she has fired an automatic weapon, but she believes in tougher background checks and regulation on those types of guns. “If it shoots a lot what do you need that for?” Wagenaar said. “It’d be just awful if you had to use it to protect yourself and harm somebody else.”One time in his life, Nedens wanted to pull his gun while walking along a road with his wife in their tiny town.“A carload of people came pulling up and swerved into us, trying to scare us off the road and then they went up the road and turned around and came back and tried to hit us from behind and finally stopped.”They got out, six of them, drunk.Nedens says he would have pulled his gun but wasn't carrying.
