SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- A plan to permanently remove the traffic along Normal Street in Hillcrest and replace it with a promenade will be voted on Tuesday. If approved, the westside traffic lanes would become a pedestrian walkway with dedicated bike lanes. It would also make room for the weekly Hillcrest farmers market and other events. “They call it a promenade but where are people promenading to,” says Linda Hanna, owner of Salon Antoine. Hanna has owned the business near the corner of Normal Street and University Avenue for almost 20 years. “We are in favor of something like this, but we need to think it through.”Other business owners are worried because the project would eliminate a driveway to a nearby shopping center.“If you don’t close that driveway, you have a driveway going right to the park, and that’s a real problem,” says Benjamin Nicholls, Executive Director of the Hillcrest Business Association. To add space to the east side lanes, some parking spaces will be moved. The Hillcrest Business Association says there are plans to add dozens of parking spaces near Lincoln Avenue. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- Across California, a record-breaking 3.7 million acres have already burned in more than 8-thousand wildfires this year.Both Cal Fire San Diego and the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department are preparing to respond to potential fire disasters, as dangerous weather conditions return to San Diego County.“We know the potential is there,” said Thomas Shoots, a public information officer for Cal Fire. “We’re holding all our firefighters on duty, and we’re staffing on every piece of equipment to make sure we’re covered, we’ve brought on contract dozers. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - With the March 2020 Presidential Primary approaching, the San Diego Registrar of Voters is urging everyone to make sure they are registered properly."This one election is the most complex elections for administrators like ourselves and voters that are out there," says Registrar Michael Vu.With six political parties holding presidential primaries, plus the dozens of overlapping state and local district elections, Vu expects to create more than 12,000 unique versions of the ballot. Rules on who can vote in each party make it even more complicated.In December, Vu's office sent out more than 500,000 mailers to voters to make sure they know the options.Anyone registered with a specific party will only be allowed to vote in that party's primary. Republicans will vote for the Republican candidates, Democrats for Democrats and so on.But, right now more then 30 percent of registered voters in San Diego are listed as "No-Party Preference."For those people, they can choose to vote in the primary for American Independent, Democrat, or Libertarian parties. They cannot vote in the Republican, Green, or Peace and Freedom parties."It makes it a little more confusing," says Vu. "Something that voters need to know what political party status they are in. And if it’s different from the presidential candidates they want to vote for, they need to register or re-register now."To help voters navigate their options, the Registrar has set up a website where people can get all the information they need.The deadline to choose a party, or to choose which primary you want to vote in, is January 6."If you’re a non-partisan voter, now is the time to act," says Vu. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police Tuesday identified the two men shot and killed near Mountain View Park Sunday.Police say 33-year-old Tony Jackson and 37-year-old Robert Brown were shot near South 40th Street and Ocean View Boulevard. Both men were taken to the hospital where they later died.According to police, the victims were standing near the Mountain View Community Center when they were shot around 1:20 p.m. Sunday.RELATED: Two dead after Mountain View shooting  The suspect was described only as a black man wearing dark clothing.
