(AP) — The owner of some 100 local car washes and gas stations in Southern California has been charged with failing to pay minimum wage and overtime to some 700 workers.The Orange County Register reports prosecutors say Vahid David Delrahim and his managers ordered the workers, nearly all Latino, to arrive early, but the workers were not allowed to clock in until customers arrived. When business slowed, they had to clock out but still remain on duty, waiting until more customers turned up. SAN YSIDRO (CNS) - A 32-year-old man was wounded in a shooting early Wednesday morning in a San Ysidro parking lot, police said.It happened shortly after 3:45 a.m. on East Beyer Boulevard, north of Camino De La Plaza, San Diego police Officer Tony Martinez said.The victim had parked his vehicle in a public parking lot, then entered Mexico on foot through a pedestrian crossing, Martinez said. After the 32-year-old man returned from Mexico, a man confronted him and pointed a gun at him as he was getting into his vehicle."(The victim) ignored the suspect and the suspect shot at him numerous times," the officer said. "One of the bullets struck the front windshield of the vehicle and struck (the victim) in the chest."The victim called 911 and was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were not believed to be life-threatening, Martinez said. The gunman fled the area on foot.The suspected gunman was described as a 6-foot Latino in his 30s, about 200 pounds, with a bald head and a goatee. Gates II, a lawyer, and philanthropist best known as the father of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, has died at 94.The family announced Tuesday that Gates died peacefully Monday at his beach home in Washington state from Alzheimer's disease. Say goodbye to another 40 Sears and Kmart stores.Sears Holdings (SHLD), the bankrupt parent company of the two retailers, said Thursday that 11 Kmart locations and 29 Sears stores will close their doors in February 2019 — adding to the nearly 200?locations the company has already said will shut down in coming months.The closures are part of Sears Holdings' efforts to drastically reduce costs and find a viable way forward as it moves through bankruptcy proceedings. The company has?been struggling for several years and is drowning in debt.Liquidation sales at the 40 locations "are expected to begin late next week," the company said.Sears Holdings operated about 1,000 stores as recently as February but has been shuttering underperforming stores. When the company filed for bankruptcy last month, it said it only had about 400 stores that could turn a profit. Now, it's in the process of shedding more dead weight.In its bankruptcy filing, Sears named 142 of its worst-performing stores that would shut down in the coming months. SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A fast-moving fire broke out in the mountains near Santa Barbara late Monday afternoon. According to KEYT, the blaze, named the Cave Fire, sparked around 4:15 p.m. along Highway 154 and East Camino Cielo. By 5 p.m., the fire had burned 15 acres. That number quickly grew to 2,500 acres by 7:54 p.m., The Tribune reports.
