Men who work in construction and extraction had the highest rates of suicide in the United States, according to a report published Thursday by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. For women, suicide rates were highest among those who work in arts, design, entertainment, sports and media.From 2000 to 2016, the suicide rate among the US working-age population -- people 16 to 64 -- increased 34%, the report says.Using information from the 17 states that participated in the 2012 and 2015 National Violent Death Reporting System, the CDC analyzed the suicide deaths of 22,053 Americans of working age. Occupations were classified using the Standard Occupational Classifications from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.In 2015, the construction and extraction field had the highest rates of suicides for men, with 53.2 suicides per 100,000 working people. Mexico's incoming government on Saturday night denied that an official deal had been made regarding migrants staying in the country before entering the United States, Mexico's incoming interior secretary, Olga Sánchez Cordero, said according to a statement acquired by CNN.The statement is at odds with a previous report by The Washington Post, which had claimed that the incoming Mexican government supported a Trump administration plan that would require individuals seeking asylum to remain south of the US border while their applications are being processed.Earlier on Saturday, the Post reported that the new Trump administration border policy had garnered the incoming Mexican government's support, citing Mexican officials and senior members of Mexican president-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador's transition team. MARIPOSA COUNTY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A fire burning around Yosemite National Park has been fully contained, according to KGO.The Ferguson Fire burned nearly 97,000 acres and destroyed 10 structures. Fire crews are now in the mop-up and repair phase.The fire spread throughout Mariposa County for more than a month from July 13 through August 19. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel says President Donald Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani "embarrassed the state" on Wednesday in a Michigan House Oversight Committee Wednesday night in which he again attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 election in the state.The meeting featured Giuliani questioning witnesses he brought, as well as unverified and false claims regarding election fraud in the city of Detroit.Nessel, a Democrat, said that Republican members of the committee "embarrassed our state and defamed Michigan's most populous city."Nessel also called on Michigan Republican Party Chair Laura Cox to "put up or shut up" and instead take the evidence Republicans say they have of election fraud to her office for investigation.While Trump has been attempting for several weeks to overturn the results of the election citing widespread voter fraud, his legal team has presented little evidence to support his claim.Attorney General Bill Barr, one of Trump's staunchest defenders, said this week that the DOJ uncovered no evidence of widespread fraud that would change the election results.Several witnesses presented by Giuliani Wednesday say they saw irregularities and fraud while counting ballots at Detroit's TCF Center after polls closed.
