SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Kevin Luo of Pacific Trails Middle School has been crowned the winner of the 2018 countywide spelling bee. The event began at 9 a.m. at the McMillin Companies Event Center at Liberty Station and lasted for nearly four hours. Last year’s local winner was Pacific Trails Middle School student Yash Hande. Yash advanced to the 90th annual Scripps National Spelling Bee. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Legoland debuted a new land for youngsters as well as a train attraction for park guests Thursday.Park officials welcomed in the addition of Duplo Playtown and a new mini-locomotive in a ribbon cutting with families from Ronald McDonald House Charities. A special check presentation of ,000 was also made to Ronald McDonald House. The park says the new Duplo Playtown will give guests the best views of Miniland U.S.A. from high atop the theme park. The land is geared for kids five and under and features ten interactive areas with sounds and games to entertain.The new mini-locomotive, the Legoland Express, was also unveiled. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — It may sound like a scene out of "Jurassic Park," but you'll soon be able to check out more than 70 life-like dinosaurs from your car at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.Jurassic Quest Drive-Thru is bringing back the popular event with a twist, introducing visitors to a drive-thru display of animatronic dinos at the fairgrounds from Jan. 1 to 10 next year.From their vehicles, guests will experience the massive models — from a Tyrannosaurus rex to Triceratops to 50-foot Megalodon — roaring and moving in realistic displays as they drive through the tour. An audio tour guide will lead guests through the hour-long tour.Organizers say attendees will have limited contact, if any, with staff on-site, and that state and local coronavirus precautions will be taken.Tickets start at per vehicle, with the option for "dinosaur surprise" add-ons.
