(KGTV) -- The Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station said Thursday they’ve had to ask people to stop donating after receiving an overwhelming amount of donations for the Holy Fire.According to a post on the station’s Facebook page, the donations have taken up so much space, deputies are running out of room to store the items.A photo shows boxes of snacks piled atop cases of water and Gatorade. Though the department appreciates the donations, they said they plan and prepare for events such as the Holy Fire, “so we are good!”The post went on to thank the community for their support. (KGTV) -- The family of Trevor Heitmann, the popular internet personality who drove a sports car into another vehicle killing a mother and her young daughter, say they are devastated and are working to understand what led to Thursday’s tragedy. “Our family is devastated over the tragic loss of our beloved Trevor Heitmann,” the family said in a statement sent to this station via email Saturday by their attorney. “We express our deepest condolences to the Pizarro family and anyone impacted by this incident.” “We are piecing together the facts and circumstances that lead to this incomprehensible tragedy.”The family also thanked first responders for their “valiant efforts and dedication.”Heitmann, 18, was behind the wheel of the 2014 sports car that collided with an SUV, killing himself, and a 43-year-old woman and her 12-year-old daughter, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.Heitmann was traveling at a high rate of speed heading southbound in a northbound HOV lane at about 4:30 p.m. near La Jolla Village Drive before the collision, CHP said. Troopers believe he entered via an HOV lane access at Carol Canyon Road. The two vehicles collided and exploded into flames, witnesses told 10News, causing a chain reaction of crashes with at least five other vehicles.  1315

A 14-year-old boy is in custody on suspicion of shooting a teen in the arm at a Southern California high school Friday morning, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.The shooting happened at or near Highland High School in Palmdale around 7 a.m. PT, even as some students still were arriving at school, sheriff's Capt. Darren Harris said.The names of neither the suspect nor the wounded teen, also 14, were immediately released. (KGTV) - The Republican-led effort to repeal California's controversial gas-tax has gathered enough signatures to land on the 2017 ballot.The effort says they have gathered nearly 900,000 signatures, though they only needed 585,000 signatures to qualify for a spot on the ballot.Former San Diego City Councilmember Carl Demaio, who led the effort, slammed the gas-tax, noting the signature support is a message to state leaders.RELATED: Gas tax could pay to repave hundreds of county roads"That outpouring of voter disgust with the car and gas tax hikes should be a message that Sacramento politicians should hear loud and clear," Demaio said.California's gas-tax was passed by Gov.
