(KGTV) — Chula Vista Police have identified a woman who was found shot to death in a field earlier this month.Police said 23-year-old Christina Garcia was found on Aug. 5 at about 6:30 a.m. in a field near the 3100 block of Main Street. (KGTV) - A grateful South Bay mother says a "miracle" happened, after her missing son surfaced in a small Mexican town with no memory.Without a job, 37-year-old John Mooney ended up on the streets in the Chula Vista several years ago but he never lost touch with his mother."Always had contact with him. Not two or three days would go by without me seeing him," said Lynda Mooney, John's mother.John would visit Lynda at her Chula Vista home, where he stored his belongings. I was devastated and panicking," said Lynda.Lynda filed a missing persons report and searched."Anywhere you go, you look for him. Your imagination runs away from you. A week prior, a mystery man had appeared in Ejido Neuvo Leon, a small Mexican town southeast of Mexicali, with no memory. He did not know his name and spoke only English, Lynda says.The locals fed and cared for him and the story of the stranger spread quickly. The San Diego-based California Advocates for the Missing created the Facebook post that went viral and within two hours, Lynda saw it. "Relief, frantic. Chula Vista, CA (KGTV) - A Chula Vista City Council candidate running for District 4 says she is recovering after testing positive for COVID-19.Andrea Cardenas tells 10News she first started feeling symptoms on March 9th. She had a fever of 102, headaches, nausea and stomach pains. So, she called her doctor then went to seek medical care."When I went to Urgent Care, they asked me a few questions," she said. "They asked me if I had been in contact with someone who had tested positive and at the time I didn't know."She said because she is running for city council, she knew she was around many people on election night, but had no idea if anyone was carrying the coronavirus then."They had me do a chest x-ray where they accessed that I had pneumonia," she explained. "They said we could send you to the emergency room and have you tested but they explained the shortage of tests"She said her doctor explained that they were trying to hold the COVID-19 tests for the more vulnerable populations.Cardenas decided to just go home, self isolate, take the medication for pneumonia and hydrate."We have a social responsibility and a community responsibility to stay home," she said.Soon after, she was made aware that she had in fact been in contact with someone who contracted the coronavirus and she was tested immediately on the 16th.Her positive test results didn't come back until the 26th. "When I did test positive, I got a call from the county where they wanted to know my experience, all the symptoms that I had and where I had been," she said.Cardenas said she was fortunate to let the county officials know she had been home the entire time.She tells 10News has not left her home in 21 days and urges other who feel symptoms to immediately self-isolate and call their doctor."The moment that you feel any symptoms, just act as though you have it because it’s better to be safe than sorry," she said.According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, most people who have COVID-19 have mild symptoms and can recover at home without medical care.The County of San Diego urges people to call their doctor or 211 if they have symptoms. 2160

(CNS) -- Search warrants served at five illegal marijuana dispensaries in Chula Vista, Lakeside and Spring Valley resulted in the arrests of six people on a variety of charges and the seizure of .1 million and 3,000 pounds of marijuana and other drugs.Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department served the warrants at the dispensaries, as well as at homes in Jamul and San Diego and at a storage facility in Spring Valley, according to Sgt. Zheath Sanchez.The warrants followed "numerous community complaints related to unlicensed and illegal dispensaries, some located in residential neighborhoods and near local schools," Sanchez said.Taken into custody were:-- Samir Shoshani, 34, of Jamul and Iisin Mikha, 28, of Michigan, for conspiracy and operating or maintaining a drug house-- Brandon Ceja, 23, of San Diego, for being a felon in possession of a firearm-- Ariel Brown, 23, of Chula Vista, for possession of metal knuckles and possession of marijuana for sale-- Faith Ford, 22, of San Diego for possession of marijuana for saleIn addition to the marijuana, deputies seized marijuana edibles, concentrated cannabis, suspected Psilocybin mushrooms, and 20 firearms, including three semi-automatic rifles, Sanchez said.Two of the illegal dispensaries were located in Spring Valley, one in the 9900 block of Dolores Street and the other in 9500 block of Kenwood Drive.Two others were located in Lakeside, in the 8500 block of Winter Gardens Boulevard and the 900 block of Greenfield Drive in Lakeside.The fifth illegal dispensary was located in Chula Vista in the 300 block of Palomar Street. 1639
