(KGTV) — One woman was rescued and another person was reportedly buried after a partial cliff collapse at San Francisco's Fort Funston beach area.San Francisco Fire Department said the woman was rescued after she fell over a cliff after a partial collapse. The victim's injuries were not life threatening, according to SFFD.Another person was buried under the collapse, according to the fire department. SFFD K9 teams were combing the collapsed heap of dirt and rock searching for the victim. 501

(KGTV) - San Diego County leaders say a massive church gathering on the sand at Cardiff State Beach Sunday violated the health mandate to prevent the spread of COVID-19.The event featured music, prayer, and people getting baptized in the ocean.Alisha Goodman is the mom of two teenagers. She also ministers to three other teens from broken homes. They all went to the event together."It turned out to be way more than I would have ever imagined, or expected it to be. I think everyone has just been so suppressed for the past few months. It was an opportunity for us to get out and worship and be together and feel that presence of God that we haven't really had an opportunity to do," said Goodman.Pictures on social media captured huge crowds with little social distancing and not a lot of people wearing face coverings.Goodman says she felt safe."I think everybody was being fair with each other and social distancing within their immediate families and friends group, but there was some hugging and people who hadn't seen each other in a long time, they haven't seen each other in 4 months," said Goodman.The event was organized by Sean Feucht. He's a member of Bethel Church in Redding, but the church was not involved with Sunday's gathering. He's held similar events across the country.10News tried reaching Feucht through his social media accounts, but we did not get a response.In response to media inquiries after the event in Redding, he issued a statement on his Facebook page saying in part, "Government leaders voiced support for outdoor protests in recent months, they should not be condemning Christians seeking to gather in worship. She was shocked at the size of the crowd and the lack of social distancing."We're working really hard, to keep employees safe and to keep businesses open. (KGTV) -- The National Transportation Safety Board ruled Tuesday that the lack of adequate oversight by Truth Aquatics Inc. led to a boat fire that killed 34 people off Santa Cruz Island last year.San Diegan Nicole Quitasol and four of her family members were among the 34 killed in the September 2019 blaze.The NTSB said Tuesday that the fire aboard the Conception diving boat is one of the deadliest maritime tragedies in the United States.“The message is clean up your act, follow your procedures,” said board chairman Robert Sumwalt while speaking about Truth Aquatics Inc.The investigation revealed the 33 passengers and one crewmember killed were in the bunkroom and unable to escape before being overcome with smoke.Investigators told the NTSB some of the victims had on shoes, indicating that they were awake and trying to get out at the time of the fire.Smoke inhalation was listed as the cause of death for all victims.All 34 were two decks below the area where five crewmembers were asleep in the upper deck. The five crewmembers survived.The NTSB agreed on 18 key findings in the investigation, including that the lack of required roving night watchmen and lack of smoke detectors in the salon area of the boat delayed the detection of the fire by crew members, leading to the high number of fatalities.While the fire's exact cause was not determined, the NTSB said it could have possibly been caused by charging electronics and lithium-ion batteries.As a result of its investigation, the NTSB made ten new safety recommendations for the U.S. Coast Guard and others in the industry. Some of the recommendations including a requirement that all newly constructed vessels with overnight accommodations have smoke detectors in all accommodation spaces and that the vessels provide a secondary means of escape into a different space than the primary exit so that a single fire should not affect both escape hatches.“The recommendations that we’ve issued today if implemented that’s the key, if implemented, would reduce the risk of future passenger vessel fires going undetected it would ensure that escape routes exit to different spaces improving the chances for survival for passengers and crew,” said Sumwalt. 2229

(KGTV) -- Reopening guidance could be coming soon for California’s theme parks, which have been shut down since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in March.A spokesperson for Gov. Newsom and the state’s Department of Public Health said guidelines for reopening theme parks, concerts, sporting events, and other mass gatherings could be issued this week.Some expect an announcement to be made as soon as Friday.Earlier this week, Disney announced 28,000 employees would be laid off at Disneyland and Disney World parks. Company officials placed part of the blame on Newsom for failing to issue reopening guidelines for theme parks sooner.When asked if he was giving in to pressure from Disney and other theme parks to reopen prematurely, Newsom said, “We are not putting the health and safety of people visiting the state or recreating the state at the parks at risk.”Michelle Steel, chairwoman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors, criticized the state for “dragging its feet” on issuing reopening guidelines for theme parks, specifically Disneyland in Anaheim and Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park.“We need these parks to reopen not for our children and tourists but our businesses and communities that rely on them,” Steel said. “I am disappointed at the lack of progress California has made in this and every other area while other governments have made safe reopenings of their theme parks.
