U.S. gasoline prices are becoming a real pain for motorists, particularly in the west.A survey of more than 5,000 gas stations conducted by AAA shows that the average price for a gallon of regular gas is now .75, up 11% in the last month. And the average price is already above a gallon in six western states: California, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, Nevada and Alaska.Four-dollar gas is the average in a couple of California counties. Many others are within a few cents of that mark, including San Francisco, where the average price is .98. The statewide average in California is up 20 cents a gallon, or 5%, to .83 in just the last week. The Midwest has also been hit by price spikes. The average price in Chicago has jumped 46 cents a gallon, or 16%, to .27 in the last month.Unplanned refinery maintenance at several locations is responsible for the sudden, and uneven, increases across the nation, said Tom Kloza, head of energy analysis for the Oil Price Information Service. Western states are particularly vulnerable to supply disruptions because they have less refining capacity than other locations across the United States."The western half of the country hasn't added any refining capacity this century," said Kloza. "It's been a cluster of difficulties but not disasters hurting supplies, particularly out in the West."Kloza said -a-gallon gas will be common in California and perhaps in some other western states in the coming weeks. But most of the country could start to see some relief in gas prices soon as refineries along the Gulf Coast start to come back online from scheduled maintenance in the coming weeks. 1653

We were just involved in a fatal accident with a driver going the wrong way on Veteran’s Highway as we were leaving Myrtle Beach. Thank God we are all okay. I feel so bad for those who died needlessly tonight. I’m really shaken up by what I witnessed. God bless those who died. pic.twitter.com/zcfRK7XxFc— Travis Tritt (@Travistritt) May 18, 2019 358

WASHINGTON (AP) — Inmates at all 122 federal correctional facilities across the country are no longer being allowed visits for the next 30 days, in response to the new coronavirus. Officials tell The Associated Press that effective Friday, the Bureau of Prisons is suspending all visits. No federal inmates or Bureau of Prisons staff members had tested positive for COVID-19, as of Friday morning. The plan to temporarily suspend visitation, curtail staff travel and pause inmate transfers is the result of concerns for the 175,000 inmates in BOP custody. Staff members who work in areas with “sustained community transmission” are subject to enhanced health screenings. That includes having their temperature taken. 728

While you're out of town on vacation, the last thing you should do is post on your social media about it. The Washington County (Wisconsin) Sheriff took to Facebook Monday to inform citizens of why it's a bad idea to post about your vacation while you're out of town. The sheriff mentions that informing the world about your vacation could leave you open to burglary. Additionally, he advises that travelers wait until they're safely home to announce your vacation or post your photos."The problem is that we have criminals lurking within our community that act as predators and seek out targets of opportunity," said Sheriff Martin Schulteis in the post. 668
