INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana — Police have arrested an Indianapolis man on a charge of murder in connection with the death of his friend on the Near Eastside earlier this month.Dewayne Sims, 32, was taken into custody Thursday night on a warrant for charges of murder and being a felon carrying a handgun in connection with the death of 36-year-old Earl Whitney.Whitney was found shot and killed inside a home in the 500 block of North Tacoma Avenue just after 6:30 p.m. on March 8.According to a probable cause affidavit filed Monday, a witness told police that Whitney had brought home his longtime friend, Sims. Both appeared to be possibly intoxicated, according to the witness.At one point in the evening, Whitney reportedly attempted to get Sims to leave. Sims, the witness said, had dozed off. When Whitney tried to rouse him, Sims reportedly said, “Who is you?”Whitney reportedly responded, “It’s me, cuz” – at which point Sims allegedly shot him. According to the witness, Sims shot Whitney once, paused, then shot him two more times. Sims then allegedly fled the residence.An autopsy of Whitney determined he died of a gunshot wound to the torso.According to the affidavit, Sims was on GPS monitoring through Marion County Community Corrections at the time the shooting took place. The device “reported insufficient,” though, meaning that it “did not have a clear view of satellites to report a valid location.”As of Friday evening, Sims was being held without bond at the Marion County Jail. It started out as a way to help her brother, and now, it's become so much more than that. Now one sister's efforts have made an impact far more than she could ever imagine.In their household, twins Sarah and Jacob Greichen are both included and involved. But one day after school a few years ago, Greichen realized outside the walls of their home, it was a different story."My brother got in and he was crying," Greichen said. "And he was saying, 'Mom I have no friends why don't I have any friends.'"Jacob has autism, and exclusion took its toll."He actually stopped talking completely," Greichen recalled. "He regressed, he went from probably a fourth, fifth, sixth-grade level to first-grade level and it was a really hard time for my family."Greichen decided to do something. And at 13 years old, she founded the non-profit Score A Friend, which builds clubs for students with and without intellectual disabilities in schools and communities."Every single kid meets friends through school or though activities and sports," Greichen said. "And Score A Friend is creating those opportunities for everyone. So that they can meet friends and then those friendships can go from school to home."Clubs can be focused on sports or electives, and one club even got the whole school involved with score a friend week."They talk about inclusion," Greichen said. "What unified sports are what person first language is what do you say when you walk up to a person with a disability and what is the right way to act."Now, Score A Friend has gone national, spreading to more than a dozen schools across the country, including at least two colleges."I mean now we have commercials and billboards out which is crazy!" Greichen exclaimed. "I mean, I never would have guessed this from the beginning."But for Greichen, her brother is the true measure of success."Jacob finally started talking again," Greichen said. "He started playing sports again he started talking to other students and he actually had people to sit with at lunch."Greichen sees Score A Friend becoming a movement. INDIANAPOLIS -- Josh McDaniels was all set to clean out his office and travel to Indianapolis to be announced as the Colts' new head coach on Feb. 6. Instead, he talked with New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and coach Bill Belichick, and had a change of heart that many Colts fans will never forgive. In his first interview since spurning the Colts to return to the Patriots, McDaniels apologized for what happened in a wild 24 hours in early February. "I apologize to anyone who was affected in any way. Indianapolis did a tremendous job," McDaniels told the Boston Globe. "They have a tremendous organization and I was lucky to be considered and I just think once I found out [about his role in New England], I made the right decision for me and my family at this time.’’McDaniels was given no guarantees about taking over for any future positions, such as taking over for Belichick when he retires, but did have his contract adjusted, the Globe reported. An NFL Network report said that McDaniels' agent, Bob LaMonte, told McDaniels that he made "perhaps the biggest professional mistake of his career" by backing out of the job with the Colts. McDaniels also discussed the conversation he had with Colts' GM Chris Ballard when he told him he wouldn't be taking the job. “Chris was tremendous the whole entire time,’’ McDaniels said. “He’s an incredible human being. He’s great at what he does. He’s going to be successful. It was difficult. I had a friendship with him — I still do. ... He’s a guy that I have a lot of respect for and admiration for. He was a big reason why I was interested in that job in the first place. It was as difficult a decision as I’ve ever made professionally. He handled it extremely well, he was a complete professional about it.’’McDaniels said he also called to apologize to the assistant coaches who had been hired after he accepted the Colts job. “I spoke to all of them that night right away, shortly after I talked to Chris,’’ McDaniels said. “They were professionals. The average person only gains two pounds during the holidays, according to a study published in Psychology and Behavior.  But if that two pounds scare you, how can you avoid it?When tomorrow comes, and you're faced with an abundance of food, Brenzels says to grab the smallest plate.   “If you grab the bigger plate, you tend to fill it up completely,” he says. “You grab the smaller plate, you fill it up, that's still a quarter of the portions you would eat."  When it comes to leftovers, give it away.   "A lot of people are eating all the leftovers,” Brenzels says. “Send the leftovers home with people in small increments. Set yourself up for success."  And once Friday morning rolls around, make sure you get back at it.   "Still wake up, even if it's a walk, get up,” the trainer recommends. “Get moving, get that metabolism going. Get that workout in in the morning, and then its right back to normal."  Whatever you do, Brenzel says, don't wait till the New Year to make your resolution to get fit.  "Make your resolution right now,” he says. “Friday. Ivanka Trump last year often used a personal email account to discuss or relay official White House business, according to emails released Monday by nonpartisan watchdog group.According to emails released by American Oversight, Trump used her personal account through much of 2017 to email Cabinet officials, White House aides and her assistants. The Presidential Records Act requires all official White House communications and records be preserved.The Washington Post was first to report on the emails. The White House had no comment on Ivanka Trump's email practices.Trump's usage of a private email account will bring comparisons to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, whose usage of a private email server instead of a government email account during her time in office was a central part of President Donald Trump's campaign against her in 2016. Trump's supporters often chanted -- and still do, on occasion -- "Lock her up!" at the mention of Clinton, and President Trump has frequently accused Clinton of receiving special treatment because she was not charged for skirting the Presidential Records Act with her email practices.Peter Mirijanian, the spokesperson for Ivanka Trump's attorney and ethics counsel, said in a statement, "Like most people, before entering into government service, Ms. Trump used a private email. When she entered the government, she was given a government email account for official use. While transitioning into government, until the White House  provided her the same guidance they had to others who started before she did, Ms. Trump sometimes used her private account, almost always for logistics and scheduling concerning her family."Some advisers to President Donald Trump were alarmed when they heard this news, the Post reports, because of the similarities to Clinton's email use.
