SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Country legend Clint Black is moving beyond Nashville stardom with his first-ever musical, now playing at San Diego’s Old Globe Theater. ‘Looking for Christmas’ is about Staff Sergeant Mike Randolf, who returns from deployment to Afghanistan to be with his family for the holiday."Mike Randolf is making it home just in time for Christmas but he's not really quite home. And through his daughter and her excitement over Christmas, understanding how it works, and then ultimately why it works and why we do it is one of the things that propels Mike forward,” Black told 10News.Clint Black created the idea from his 1995 holiday album and wrote the musical with playwright James Sasser."It was a real odyssey for me to try to find the true meaning of Christmas and it's what we're trying very hard to get across in the play."Randolf struggles to find the joy of the season with the help of his family."For me, the true meaning behind Christmas as I discovered it through writing the album was really the message to look around to others and what they need. It's fun to give people the things they want, but it's important to give people the things they need."‘Looking for Christmas’ runs through Dec. 31 at The Old Globe. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Chronic pain, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and anxiety are just some of the conditions veterans carry with them long after serving our country. Now many are finding relief at a free acupuncture clinic offered at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM)."I had patients who would come to me and say, no you don't understand, I got off all my pain medication," said Christine Cronin, a full-time faculty member at PCOM.A Marine Corps veteran herself, Cronin started the Veterans Clinic in 2013."I focused my doctoral research on the treatment of combat stress-induced insomnia, and I had a lot of research that supported that we were going to have a lot of service members who were going to have a series of comorbid conditions, they were going to have a lot of different things that they were going to be working through. And they were all things acupuncture was good at," said Cronin. Students who've received over 2,000 hours of training help treat veterans at the clinic. Acupuncture helps regulates the body, promoting a natural self-healing process."Really listen to your patient and really figure out what is at stake for them, and what is going to help them lead the kind of life they want to lead," said Cronin. The clinic is open to past and present service members, as well as their family members.Veterans Clinic:Wednesday nights, 5:30 - 9:30 (veterans asked to arrive before 8 p.m.)7445 Mission Valley Rd, San Diego, CA 92108Bring military ID or proof of service affiliation 1526

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Busy families can get help from the United States Department of Agriculture, which has tips for stretching your food budget and eating well when money is limited.Buy in season: Sticking to fruits and vegetables that are in season can lower the cost and add to the freshness.Go back to basics: Convenience foods like pre-cut fruits and vegetables and take-out meals often cost more.Meal prep: Make a large batch of favorite recipes and freeze in individual containers. If you use them throughout the week, you can avoid spending on take-out meals.Find deals right under your nose: That may include peel-off coupons on items, signs on aisle shelves, or coupons with your receipt.Search for coupons: Don’t overlook your junk mail! Many stores still mail coupons and ads, or you can find them online.Look for savings in the newspaper: Brand-name coupons are found in paper inserts every Sunday. Some stores offer double value on coupons on some days of the week.Join your store’s loyalty program: You can receive savings and electronic coupons when you provide an email addressFind out if your store will match a competitor’s coupon: Many stores will accept coupons for the same item.Get a coupon buddy: Swap coupons you won’t use with a friend.Stay organized: Sort your coupons so they’re easy to find. The USDA has sample two-week menus, recipes and a shopping list that can be used by anyone wanting a healthy diet at a modest price. The USDA created recipes using basic kitchen equipment and made lunches designed to be packable so they can be taken to work or school. 1619

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - As election season heats up, some political passions are fueling criminal acts."Speechless and devastated," said Elise Dearborn.Dearborn, who isn't shy about her support of Bernie Sanders, parked her car in front of her home in Encinitas a few weeks ago. In this morning, she walked out to a surreal scene.Five stickers — most of them backing Sanders and purchased at local 2016 rallies — were gone. Ten more were partially taken off.RELATED: Residents concerned over rash of vandalism in Chula Vista"All those memories I used to gaze at were gone," said Dearborn. The vandals apparently scraped at the stickers with a device, leaving behind damaging scratches and paint damage. "It's damage to my property and damage to my freedom of speech," said Dearborn.Dearborn is not the only feeling an unwelcome burn. RELATED: Destructive gas thefts frustrating one Oceanside neighborhoodA supporter of President Trump sent 10News video of his home in Lakeside. As an alarm went off last month, a thief is seen grabbing three flags from the fence outside his home. Back in December, at the same home, the laughter of two thieves can be heard in surveillance video as they made off with two more flags. Both American flags and Betsy Ross flags have been stolen. According to the Anti-Defamation League, some extremist groups have used the 13-star flag, but it remains a historical flag mainly used for patriotic purposes.According to the homeowner, in the past three years, more than two dozen flags, signs, and banners supporting President Trump have disappeared or been vandalized, some even burned. Those type of acts are condemned by a backer of a different candidate. "Whoever the candidate is, we should have a right to show our support ... without fearing somebody will come and tear it down," said Dearborn.10News talked to several campaigns for local Republicans and Democrats. Sources within the campaigns told us thefts of yard signs have happened, but at similar levels to past years. 2011

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Californians voted to pass Proposition 22 – reclassifying rideshare drivers as independent contractors. But, companies like Uber and Lyft are still battling lawsuits from the state claiming billions in wage theft. The legal battle over rideshare drivers did not end with the passing of Prop 22. The California Labor Commissioner is still suing gig companies for not following current law which classifies drivers as employees instead of independent contractors. The Labor Commissioner’s Office is seeking billions for unpaid minimum wage, overtime, sick leave, and business expenses.Nicole Moore with Rideshare Drivers United led the fight against Prop 22. She says since the new law is not retroactive those lawsuits still stand.“This is about back pay that under the law as it was over the last three years, those drivers are still owed that money,” said Moore. “It was .3 billion that were owed to those drivers. Half of that is damages but the other half is just straight pay that under labor law.”Some drivers had to file for unemployment when the pandemic hit, including those with pre-existing conditions hoping to limit exposure to the virus. Others are unable to drive since they have to stay home with kids now out of school for distance learning.Moore says those unemployment protections won’t last once the new law takes over.“If you don’t have unemployment that’s when people become homeless, that’s when kids go hungry. We need that safety net as workers,” said Moore. As San Diego moves into the state’s purple tier, Tonje Ettesvoll says she’ll have to limit hours to reduce her risk of exposure. She says the move for her own safety may prevent her from qualifying for benefits under Prop 22.“I will not be doing my 60 hours a week. I’ll be doing maybe 30 so I may be one of those people who don’t qualify and will have to be on Medi-Cal,” said Ettesvoll. “And that is an expense that’s not Uber’s and Lyft’s. That is an expense that’s the taxpayer’s and I think that’s very unfair.”Uber and Lyft both declined to respond to our inquiry on the pending lawsuits. Uber did send us this statement: 2136
