(KGTV) -- Dry conditions and Santa Ana winds have fueled several wildfires across California this week.As thousands of acres are burned, residents in many areas have been evacuated from their homes and major roads have been closed.Here's a look at the major fires burning throughout the state. (KGTV) - Authorities in Northern California have issued an arrest warrant for a former Southwestern College football player after he failed to appear in court in a sexual assault case.The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office said 25-year-old Raul Sierra failed to show up for two hearings, including one on March 7.The former Southwestern College and Humboldt State University student-athlete was arrested in 2016 for a sexual assault that officials say occurred in a campus residence hall at HSU in 2015.Sierra was charged originally with acquaintance rape “by use of drugs” in 2016 after taking a plea bargain. However, subsequent court records show that Sierra pleaded no contest to lesser charges of felony false imprisonment and misdemeanor assault in 2016.Court records show that Sierra is supposed to serve community service and undergo counseling through a court program.Sierra attended Castle Park High school before playing at Southwestern College and walking-on at Humboldt State University. 1031

(KGTV) - Federal investigators are asking for possible victims of a convicted child predator and retired Vista school district high school teacher to come forward. Tay Cooper, 67, pleaded guilty in 2018 to possessing child pornography. He was sentenced to one year in federal prison and seven years of supervised release. The judge ordered Cooper to pay ,000 in restitution to the four victims identified in the images and videos. Last September, Homeland Security Investigations agents received information from a potential victim who accused Cooper of sexual abuse. The woman says Cooper abused her for eight years when she was a child. RELATED: Former City Heights teacher sentenced for receiving child pornography“Unfortunately child predators don’t usually stop. I don’t know if that’s going to be the case here with Mr. Cooper but we have to do our due diligence to find that out," said Cher Durst, HSI Assistant Special Agent in Charge.Investigators worry there could be more victims due to Cooper's extensive teaching career, which includes 20 years at Rancho Buena Vista High School. Also of concern was that Cooper was a beloved teacher, winning Teacher of the Year two years in a row while in Los Angeles County. "He chaperoned trips, he initiated clubs, things of that nature in the school, which gave him really unlimited access to children in those school districts," said Durst. "Internet crimes against children are a priority for HSI, and public tips are key to uncovering the layers, locating victims and bringing predators to justice for these heinous crimes." (KGTV) – A powerful tribute to late actor Chadwick Boseman was unveiled this week at Downtown Disney in Anaheim.The mural shows Boseman exchanging the “Wakanda Forever” salute with a child wearing a Black Panther mask.Nikkolas Smith, a former Disney Imagineer who was on the set of the Black Panther film, created the new art installation called “King Chad.”The actor silently battled colon cancer for years, even while filming some of his major movies. He also visited children who were also fighting cancer.Boseman passed away on Aug. 28 at the age of 43.Smith said in a statement, “As a former Disney Imagineer, I had the honor of working on a major children's hospital initiative and Avengers Campus as my final two assignments. Seeing Chadwick's heart for people in-person, and later discovering his courageous battle with cancer, I was inspired to create this tribute to honor his life and legacy ... (KGTV) — A magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck the Mojave Desert area Wednesday.The quake was recorded at 1:40 p.m. in Trona, Calif., according to the US Geological Survey, and could be felt as far east as Las Vegas and as far west as Los Angeles. The earthquake had a depth of less than half a mile just north of Barstow.A 3.7-magnitude aftershock was recorded in the same area within the next hour.Sal Romo at Esparza family restaurant in Trona told 10News they definitely felt shaking but there wasn't any damage.
