Top executives from more than 180 companies have a message for lawmakers: Restricting abortion is "bad for business."A letter endorsed by the business leaders appeared as a full-page ad in Monday's New York Times, declaring "it's time for companies to stand up for reproductive health care."They argue that limiting access to comprehensive care, "including abortion," threatens "the health, independence, and economic stability of our employees and customers." The letter says strict abortion laws are "against our values" and impede corporate efforts to build diverse workforces.Among the list of the ad's endorsers are chief executives from Yelp, Slack, Tinder, H&M, and food delivery app Postmates. Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter, was also on the list, though he signed on behalf of the other company he runs, digital payment firm Square. The group included fashion designer Eileen Fisher.Businesses have shown a growing willingness to take stands on issues like LGBTQ rights, immigration and gun control — but they've remained mostly silent on abortion policy through years of debate. That changed for some companies this year after Alabama lawmakers approved a near-total ban on abortion, and as "heartbeat" laws, which prohibit abortions when a fetal heartbeat is detected or as early as six weeks into a pregnancy, gained new traction in several states. They include Georgia, Mississippi, Kentucky and Louisiana.Three of the world's biggest entertainment companies — Netflix, Disney and WarnerMedia — said last month that they may stop producing movies and TV shows in Georgia if the state's "heartbeat" law takes effect. (WarnerMedia, a unit of AT&T, is the parent company of CNN.)The executives behind the letter were brought together by a coalition that includes the ACLU, Planned Parenthood and the advocacy group NARAL Pro-Choice America.Ilyse Hogue, NARAL's president, said in a statement that the organization applauds the executives for "taking a stand on behalf of their employees, customers, and communities.""We encourage the entire business community to join us in protecting access to reproductive health care in the critical months and years to come," she added. The coalition is calling the campaign "Don't Ban Equality" and it launched a 2277

TULSA, Oklahoma — The owner of a popular Tulsa bakery was arrested after she was accused of stealing baking products. Libby Morley, who also goes by Lauren Morley and Lauren Beesley, was taken to jail March 25 for felony larceny. She is accused of stealing about ,200 worth of butter, vanilla, chocolate chips and cream cheese from Sam's Club.An affidavit said on Nov. 2, an employee of Sam's club on 44th and Sheridan noticed Morley with 24 bottles of vanilla on her flatbed. The document said the employee noticed she was acting suspicious. After checking purchase history, the club reported to police they did not sell 24 bottles of vanilla that week. An internal investigation was launched within the store and found several other incidents where Morley did not pay, according to the affidavit. From Oct. 8 until Nov. 12, the store said she "did not make an effort to pay for the items and passed operational registers as the left the location." Throughout that period of time, the affidavit said she stole a total of 126 packages of butter, nine bags of chocolate chips, nine packages of cream cheese and 24 bottles of vanilla. Morley issued a statement through her public relations firm saying, "I deny the allegations against me. This is a misunderstanding. I'm working to clear my name." The OK Cookie Momster has been in business since 2013 and moved into its 31st and Harvard location in 2016. The bakery now has a second location in the Mother Road Market. We reached out to the developers, the Lobeck Taylor Foundation, and are waiting to hear back. Morley entered a plea of not guilty and is due back in court on April 30. 1649

TORONTO, Canada – The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) says it won’t send its team to the Tokyo Olympics unless they’re postponed until next year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 2020 Games were set to start on July 24 and run through August 9, but the ongoing spread of the COVID-19 has many calling for them to be rescheduled. That includes the COC, which is asking the International Olympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee and the World Health Organization to postpone the Games for one year. COC said it would offer its full support in helping navigate all the complexities that rescheduling the Games would bring.“While we recognize the inherent complexities around a postponement, nothing is more important than the health and safety of our athletes and the world community,” wrote 822

There will be two versions of the redacted special counsel report, with one being released to the public and one that will eventually go to a limited number of members of Congress with fewer redactions, the Justice Department said Wednesday. Some of the redactions in the Mueller report will be because of the gag order in the case involving Republican activist Roger Stone, they wrote. Prosecutors say they are making these redactions so not to potentially prejudice a jury, since Stone has pleaded not guilty to the charges he faces and is headed to trial. In a court filing related to the Stone case, prosecutors outlined a careful plan to prevent leaks of the less-redacted version the Justice Department plans to provide to Congress.First, prosecutors will "secure" the less-redacted version -- suggesting it won't be available immediately. They will also keep it in an "appropriate setting" and limit its access to only some members of Congress and their staff. If Congress wants copies of the less-redacted version, prosecutors may want to ask a federal judge for permission before giving it to them, prosecutors wrote on Wednesday. 1148
