Animals, package thieves.But one Poway camera caught something else that has some parents and teachers scratching their heads.Joanne Woodward, a 2nd-grade Poway Unified School District teacher, says a doorbell camera caught a school board member hanging election flyers on door handles.The problem? The flyers featured scathing "report cards" of members up for re-election containing false information. "My students would be shocked, all of the students at our school would be shocked to think that an adult, a role model at our school, would do something like this," Woodward said.The video was taken in the days leading up to the election. It shows Poway Unified school board member Kimberley Beatty and her husband, Edward, placing the door hangers on handles in Poway.The "report cards" claimed that the two members up for re-election had colluded with criminals, used taxpayer dollars for themselves, and wouldn't let students speak at meetings."Just appalling," Woodward added. There's the issue of who the flyer claims paid for the materials: "Citizens for Sound Governance." A group that — if it really existed — would more than likely have to formally file to be a committee because of how much money they spent."The intention there was to undermine our re-election," said T.J. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Fixes are coming to elevators in a 14-story high-rise in downtown San Diego where senior tenants have faced challenges performing everyday tasks. But not soon enough for many.Some residents of the 65 and older Tower Apartments community have missed important appointments and had difficulties running errands, like trips to the grocery store, because of elevator outages.Some residents told 10News it's a long-running issue.RELATED: Seniors left with one elevator in 14-floor?San Diego buildingThe building is undergoing renovations - which residents say they appreciate. But they say the upgrades don't make it ok to shut down one of the two elevators and leave them with an elevator that they describe as unreliable at best. "Everybody is extremely upset," resident Carol Clark said. "And the thing is we don't seem to be getting many answers."One neighbor in a wheelchair broke down in tears during our interview. "It's people's safety," he said. "Not just mine, but everybody else."Shortly after running the story on 10News, management with the apartment complex sent a letter telling residents one of the elevators under renovations should be running by the end of June. After that, the other elevator that has had problems will be upgraded.Management said they will also schedule input meetings with residents for next week. 1372

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - For one local woman, President Trump's proposal for the death penalty for some drug dealers is sparking an emotional, internal debate."My daughter's character was so gracious.  She was beautiful inside and out," said Eva Faure.Her daughter, Eva Anderson was a trainer and aspiring journalist.  Six years ago, Anderson's life was cut short at the age of 23.  She was Faure's only child."The pain ... is an indescribable," said Faure.Faure says her daughter's opiate habit started when she tried her boyfriend's Oxycontin pills.  She says within 3 months, Eva was an addict. Around that time, Faure confronted Eva after she got sick, lost weight and her personality changed.  Eva revealed her addiction and agreed to enter rehab.  Faure says after nearly 2 years of being sober -- Eva's landlord found her dead from a methadone overdose in her La Jolla apartment.  While Faure still has questions about how the methadone got into her daughter, there's no questioning how she feels about those who traffic large amounts of opioids.     1114

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — For families who want to give their kids some Halloween fun but avoid traditional trick-or-treating, the city is offering a quick and safe alternative.Wednesday through Saturday, the City of San Diego will offer free bags of candy for families to drive through or walk up and select as an alternative to going door-to-door this Halloween amid the pandemic.The sites will be set up at various times across 27 recreation centers in the city. A complete list of participating recreation centers is online.Families and kids are encouraged to dress up in their costumes. Visitors will get a free bag of candy as well as "a scary surprise or two," according to the city.All recreation centers will be following the recommended guidelines under the county's public health orders, so social distancing and face coverings will be required. 857
