SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One man is dead and another person was injured after two separate shootings just miles apart early Saturday.The first shooting occurred in the Lincoln Park area before 3:30 a.m. near Euclid and Imperial avenues. A suspect wearing dark clothing reportedly shot at a group of transients, according to San Diego Police.One person was hit by debris from the gunshot and taken to the hospital as a precaution.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodA second shooting occurred about two miles away, an officer patrolling Mountain View heard gunshots around the same time. He arrived to find a man lying on the ground on South 45th Street, near Willy Henderson Sports Complex.The Hispanic man in his 20s to 30s was shot multiple times and died at the scene, police said. His identity has not been released.Police are searching for a white Volkswagon seen in the area by witnesses following the shooting. Police said there is no indication the shooting is gang-related.Police received calls about both shootings around the same time but said there is nothing to suggest the two are connected. 1153

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - One man is dead after a car hopped onto a sidewalk and ran over him.A vehicle traveling southbound near 3950 Normal St. in Hillcrest veered off the road and onto the sidewalk at about 11 p.m. Friday. In the process, the vehicle ran over a man sleeping on the sidewalk, killing him.Police said the vehicle continued through some bushes and into a parking lot, where it collided with a parked car. The vehicle fled the area traveling eastbound on University Ave.The vehicle was described as a silver Honda Accord. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – One person is dead following a shooting at a Midway-area adult store, according to police.The shooting happened around 1:45 p.m. on the 3600 block of Midway Drive at Kemper Street, near the back of the Home Depot.When they arrived, authorities found the body of a 65-year-old woman inside the store. The woman had trauma to her upper body, according to police. Police say a preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was reportedly assaulted while inside the business.The possible suspect was described as a white man last seen wearing a navy blue shirt and navy blue pants. He was also carrying a navy blue backpack.The victim’s identity isn’t being released at this time.Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the San Diego Police Department’s homicide unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 862

  

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — More San Diego college students will be moving back to campus this weekend, as San Diego State grapples with trying to reduce its cases more than three weeks after its fall semester began.When SDSU started moving students back onto campus at the end of August, COVID-19 testing wasn't mandatory. Since Aug. 24, SDSU's cases on and off campus have climbed to 721 confirmed cases and 28 probable cases as of Wednesday.SDSU is now requiring testing for any students living on campus.RELATED: Petition calls for SDSU tuition and campus fee partial refundOther local universities are planning to require testing as well.Dr. Robert Schooley with UC San Diego says students will begin a staggered move-in process starting this weekend."We have appointments for all of them to arrive at a certain time they'll be tested as they arrive before they move into the dorm," Schooley told ABC 10News anchor Lindsey Pena.UCSD is expecting several thousands of students to move back to campus this fall. But school leaders say they're encouraged with what they've seen at other UC campuses.RELATED: San Diego Community College District announces online classes through 2021"Things at Berkley are going very well things at UC Merced are going very well. Two semester schools that have almost a month head start in terms of people moving in," said Schooley.At the University of San Diego, students will move back onto campus this weekend, though classes started a few weeks ago. Only about 500 students will be in dorms, and 90% of classes remain virtual, a USD spokesperson tells ABC 10News.All USD students moving back on campus will be tested when they arrive.Point Loma Nazarene students moved back to campus earlier this week and were also required to be tested when they arrived. 1859
