Moon rocks don’t age, because there is no atmosphere in space to break down the rocks. The rocks found on the moon can potentially be billions of years old. “More recently we've actually learned in the past, less than a decade, that the Moon's rocks actually contain way more water than was originally realized,” the processor explains. Just like famous diamonds and jewels, there are well known space rocks, too. Like the one found by Apollo 15. “They named it the Genesis Rock, because it’s a part of the primordial crust of the moon,” she says.When studying these samples, scientists take all the precautions, from wearing bunny suits, temperature-controlled rooms and even triple bagging each rock for storing."We try really hard to preserve the rocks so that the science that we learn from the rocks can be trusted," Krysher says.It’s not every day we go to the Moon, so these scientists take time to study the rocks and do it sparingly. They are still breaking rocks over 40 years old. However, come five years from now, they’ll get another chance for more rocks when U.S. astronauts head to the moon in 2024. 1796

Residents were urged to shelter in place for several hours after an explosion and fire broke out Wednesday at a massive ExxonMobil plant in Texas, injuring 66 people, officials said.The injuries were non-life threatening, plant manager Jason Duncan told reporters. Most involved minor, first-degree-type burns, with the victims treated at a local clinic, he said. Most were ExxonMobil employees or contractors.City officials said via Twitter Wednesday afternoon that the shelter-in-place advisory had been lifted after monitoring failed to detect "any levels of concern" in the air. The fire had been contained by the evening."We realize the people who live here in Baytown and our surrounding communities are worried," Baytown spokeswoman Natasha Barrett told reporters. "We understand that and we've been working hour after hour to check on things, to monitor air quality."The fire occurred at the company's Baytown Olefins Plant, ExxonMobil spokeswoman Sarah Nordin said. The company website describes the complex as one of the largest refining and petrochemical complexes in the world. It's located about 25 miles east of Houston.Barrett said the fire began about 11:07 a.m. local time and the precautionary shelter-in-place was issued about 10 minutes later.The blaze is in a unit that contains polypropylene material and Exxon asked that the shelter-in-place order be issued west of the plant and south of the Texas Spur 330 freeway "out of an abundance of caution," the city of Baytown said via Twitter.Duncan said the fire broke out at a polypropylene recovery unit, where the plastic is purified for production. He said crews were working to shut down the units to isolate the fire source.Duncan said the company is conducting air quality monitoring at the site and fence line, and cooperating with regulatory agencies. Six months after a catastrophic limo crash killed 20 people in upstate New York, a son of the limo company's owner faces a litany of charges.Nauman Hussain has been indicted on 20 counts of second-degree manslaughter and 20 counts negligent homicide, Schoharie District Attorney Susan Mallery said. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.Police have described Hussain as an "operator" for Prestige Limousine Chauffer Service, which was owned by his father Shahed Hussain.A felony complaint said the younger Hussain hired driver Scott Lisinicchia, despite knowing Lisinicchia didn't have the appropriate license to drive the limo.The complaint also said Nauman Hussain knew or should have known the modified Ford Excursion had mechanical and safety deficiencies, including some that would have affected the brakes.The limo had failed inspection just a month before the October 2018 crash and "was not supposed to be on the road," New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.But Hussain's attorney Lee Kindlon said "Mr. Hussain is not guilty of criminal wrongdoing, and we will fight for him every step of the way."
