The thief, who appeared to be in his late 20s or early 30s, approached a teller at the US Bank satellite office in the Albertsons store in the 2900 block of Alpine Boulevard and presented a demand note about 4 p.m. June 4, according to the FBI. After the clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, the robber left the grocery store and fled in a blue Dodge Ram pickup truck. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A woman robbed a San Diego vape and smoke shop at gunpoint and was later arrested, authorities said Saturday.It happened just before 10 p.m. Friday at the shop at 3094 National Avenue, according to San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.The woman walked in, pointed a gun at an employee and demanded money, Heims said. She took an unknown amount of money and fled eastbound on National Avenue.Officers located the suspect a few hours later near South 32nd Street and arrested her, he said.The suspect was identified as Jeanette Sarmiento, 37, Heims said. 579

SAN DIEGO (CNS) -- Hundreds of thousands of San Diegans are expected to cast their ballots in person today, Election Day, with over 1 million ballots already received.The San Diego County Registrar of Voters said more than 1.1 million ballots have been received and nearly 60,000 residents have voted early in-person as of Monday, well more than double when compared to this point in the 2016 presidential election.Of the 1.95 million registered voters in the county, 1,114,627 had already turned in their ballots as of election eve. Since January, Vector Control has collected multiple mice that have tested positive for the virus in areas of north and east county, including Julian, Fallbrook, Bonsall, Boulevard, 4S Ranch, Warner Springs and Potrero.With each instance, county officials have reminded residents to avoid sweeping or vacuuming rodent droppings, which can push the virus into the air. Instead, residents are advised to use so-called "wet cleaning" methods like a diluted bleach spray, disinfectants or a sponge and a mop to clean up wild rodent matter like urine, feces and saliva.
