A "partial equipment failure" involving a jet bridge at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) in Maryland on Saturday left six people injured. The airport tweeted that the six people were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. The jet bridge, an extendable hallway stretching from the terminal to the plane, was at Gate E-10 for Southwest Airlines Flight 822, according to the airline.Southwest Airlines said the flight arrived at BWI from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, with a request for paramedics to meet it to check out a passenger's "onboard medical situation." While medics were helping the passenger outside the aircraft, the airline said the jet bridge "experienced a failure."The remaining passengers got off the plane using stairs."We are working swiftly to assist all passengers and crew," Southwest said in a statement to CNN.The BWI Fire and Rescue Department responded, along with mutual aid, the tweet added. The jet bridge failure at BWI Airport is "under investigation," according to another tweet from the airport. The bridge will remain closed until the investigation is over, the tweet said. The aircraft has been moved from the gate and there is no further impact to operations, it said.BWI is 9 miles south of downtown Baltimore and 32 miles northeast of Washington, the 1355

#MeToo is changing American culture and putting weight behind a call for change. The concept built to a movement in 2017 when the New York Times published major allegations against producer Harvey Weinstein. The movement gained steam as more women came forward.Dr. Stefanie K. Johnson is an associate professor of management at the University of Colorado Boulder. She studies workplace sexual harassment against women, among other things, and says #MeToo was a case of strength in numbers.“So the first accuser is always doubted and blamed right?” Johnson explains. “'What was she wearing? What did she do? She has a history of bad behavior.' But when the tenth accuser comes forward with the exact same story, you don't doubt."Johnson and her team started a workplace sexual harassment study in 2016 before the #MeToo movement caught on.The team asked women about their experiences in 2016 and followed up in 2018.They found women reported experiencing fewer sexually harassing encounters at work during those years when compared to earlier studies. The study also found that workplace sexual harassment had less of an impact on womens’ self-esteem and self-worth during that time.Johnson says it could be because the victims knew they weren’t alone."I think most women started to feel like, 'well this isn't really something about me’ or it's something about all women, right?” Johnson says. She adds, “If so many people are experiencing sexual harassment then it can't be something that I did. Unless we all as a gender are doing the same behaviors to deserve it."Despite progress, Johnson says there’s a long way to go.Her study found an increase in gender-based harassment during the study period.“(In) men and women who might have previously sexually harassed ... instead, they know 'I’m not supposed to sexually harass people, this is a big topic' but they're still engaging in the same negative treatment of women,” Johnson says. The #MeToo movement is shifting American culture in other ways, too.A third of workers say it made them change their behavior at work, according to a recent Associated Press poll. The movement is also sparking legal changes to things like non-disclosure agreements.Movement leaders say they aren’t done sparking change. They want to amend federal laws and create protections for victims who come forward. 2350

A 16-year-old who allegedly used a remote-controlled car to attempt to smuggle methamphetamine across the US-Mexico border has been arrested by US Border Patrol agents, the agency announced Tuesday. The teenager, a US citizen, was arrested Sunday after agents spotted him carrying two large duffel bags and ducking in-and-out of an agent's view, US Customs and Border Protection 390

A long overdue initiative. The City of Tulsa has created a committee to oversee the search for mass graves of those killed in the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. It's giving Tulsa new hope for healing.“If we can identify a place where there are bodies, we have a responsibility to look into that,” mayor G.T. Bynum said. Bynum announced the plan last fall. A search of three possible mass grave sites were identified in a 2001 state report:Oaklawn Cemetery, Newblock Park and Rolling Oaks Memorial Gardens, formerly Booker T. Washington Cemetery. The city's now assembled a 17-person committee to oversee the search. Former state senator Maxine Horner will lead.Former state Sen. Maxine Horner; Thomas Boxley; Mayor G.T. Bynum; Melvin Cooper; Chief Egunwale; Dr. John Franklin;Sherry Gamble-Smith; state Rep. Regina Goodwin; City Councilor Vanessa Hall-Harper;Zachary Kimbrough; Sherry Laskey; state Sen. Kevin Matthews; Michael Reed; Greg Robinson; former state Rep. Don Ross; Robert Turner; and Kristi WilliamsThe search will begin with the use of ground-penetrating radar. If anything's found, the city and the oversight committee will decide whether to excavate. If human remains are uncovered, the state medical examiner would determine cause of death. The city and the oversight committee would then look at 'next steps' in terms of DNA testing and honoring the victims. That's important to the families of victims and survivor -- people like Rashad Woodrow, whose grandmother Hazel Jones passed away last year.“The first step of true healing.. with what went on back in 1921,” he said. “And I feel like those victims, they deserve a proper burial.”The first meeting of the public oversight committee is May 23 at 5:30 p.m. and will be held at the 36th Street Event Center. Another interesting note about the investigation, there was a Spanish influenza outbreak in Tulsa in 1919, just two years before the race massacre. If any remains are found, the city says the medical examiner will have to determine whether those people died from the outbreak or in the massacre. 2076

@Starbucks The police were called because these men hadn’t ordered anything. They were waiting for a friend to show up, who did as they were taken out in handcuffs for doing nothing. All the other white ppl are wondering why it’s never happened to us when we do the same thing. pic.twitter.com/0U4Pzs55Ci— Melissa DePino (@missydepino) April 12, 2018 362
