SARASOTA Co., Fla. — A brawl between two moms at a school bus stop landed both in the hospital.One of those mothers was Tiffani Cruz. She was recently released from the hospital.“It was self-defense over an incident that made no sense," she said.While North Port Police say it started over an argument about parenting, Cruz claims she and the other mother have had issues before. She says two weeks ago, she confronted that mom for yelling at another child at the bus stop. But Tuesday morning, their verbal arguments went too far.“My heart was racing!” said Eithan Cruz, who is of no relation to Tiffani Cruz. The child and his brother, Bairon Velazquez, witnessed the fight from the back window of their school bus.“Her face was bleeding and stuff,” Eithan said.“I looked away," Bairon said..Cruz admits she hit the other mom with her mug. Police have not identified the other woman. “I went to run and that’s when she picked up the glass, ran at me and stabbed me twice in my arm, once at my wrist and in back of my shoulder," Cruz said.Both parents ended up in the hospital, but paramedics airlifted the other woman to the hospital with a serious cut to her throat.“She got this close to my face nudged me with her nose and when she nudged me with her nose— it was her fist going up so my fist was going up," Cruz said when asked why she felt she acted in self-defense.Sarasota County Schools is offering counselors after several dozen elementary-aged students witnessed the violent fight.“I regret the whole incident, there’s no reason it should have happened. Saudi Arabia regards the failed ballistic missile attack on Riyadh's international airport Saturday as an act of war by Iran and will take "appropriate" measures when the time is right, the country's Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed al-Jubeir told CNN Monday.Yemen's Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for firing the projectile on Saturday, which was intercepted by Saudi defense forces before it hit the ground. (KGTV) — Hundreds gathered in Santee on Saturday to call for justice for women of color.A flyer for the march advertised "promoting black and brown unity" and justice for Breonna Taylor and Vanessa Guillén.Breonna Taylor was an EMT who was shot and killed during a no-knock warrant against her boyfriend at her home in March. No drugs were found in her apartment.Vanessa Guillén was a 20-year-old Army specialist who disappeared in April from Fort Hood in Texas. Remains believed to be hers were found near the Army post in July, sparking protests over the military's handling of sexual harassment allegations.A section of Mission Gorge Rd. was blocked off by police for the planned protest. Counter-demonstrators also assembled in the area.One of the demonstration's organizers told ABC 10News that they hope their calls for racial justice are heard by Santee's City Council leaders."Santee has its things, it's known as being racist, and I'm here to change that. That's the goal," said Alana, one of the organizers with East County BIPOC, who adds that she is born and raised in Santee. "We tried to work with City Council and we tried to be a part of a diversity committee, and it was kind of just brushed under the rug. Nothing ever happened."The group is also calling for City Council to create a diversity committee led by people of color, for Santee Mayor John Minto to denounce the Defend East County Facebook group, and to meet with San Diego Sheriff's Department Captain Christina Bavencoff.One demonstrator told ABC 10News, "our message is that minorities can be safe here. I grew up here and there is racism but there's also perks to living in Santee. The community, when they accept you, can be good. But also for minorities, to feel comfortable and to expand all of our minds and to open up about Black Lives Matter as well."In regards to counter-protesters, the demonstrator added, "We're not here for them. SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Intel has revealed another hardware security flaw that could affects millions of machines around the world.The bug is embedded in the architecture of computer hardware, and it can't be fully fixed."With a large enough data sample, time or control of the target system's behavior," the flaw could enable attackers to see data thought to be off-limits, Bryan Jorgensen, Intel's senior director of product assurance and security, said in a video statement.But Intel said Tuesday there's no evidence of anyone exploiting it outside of a research laboratory. "Doing so successfully in the real world is a complex undertaking," Jorgensen said.It's the latest revelation of a hard-to-fix vulnerability affecting processors that undergird smartphones and personal computers. Two bugs nicknamed Spectre and Meltdown set a panic in the tech industry last year.Intel said it's already addressed the problem in its newest chips after working for months with business partners and independent researchers. It's also released code updates to mitigate the risk in older chips, though it can't be eliminated entirely without switching to newer chips.Major tech companies Google, Apple, Amazon and Microsoft all released advisories Tuesday to instruct users of their devices and software, many of which rely on Intel hardware, on how to mitigate the vulnerabilities.As companies and individual citizens increasingly sign their digital lives over to "the cloud" — an industry term for banks of servers in remote data centers — the digital gates and drawbridges keeping millions of people's data safe have come under increasing scrutiny.In many cases, those barriers are located at the level of central processing unit, or CPU — hardware that has traditionally seen little attention from hackers. But last year the processor industry was shaken by news that Spectre and Meltdown could theoretically enable hackers to leapfrog those hardware barriers and steal some of the most securely held data on the computers involved.Although security experts have debated the seriousness of the flaws, they are onerous and expensive to patch, and new vulnerabilities are discovered regularly.Bogdan Botezatu, director of threat research for security firm Bitdefender, said the latest attack was another reason to question how safe users can really be in the cloud."This is a very, very serious type of attack," Botezatu said. "This makes me personally very, very skeptical about these hardware barriers set in place by CPU vendors."Intel said it discovered the flaw on its own, but credited Bitdefender, several other security firms and academic researchers for notifying the company about the problem.Botezatu said Bitdefender found the flaw because its researchers were increasingly focused on the safety and management of virtual machines, the term for one or more emulated mini-computers that can be spun up inside a larger machine — a key feature of cloud computing. 2976
