(KGTV) -- A San Diego woman posted video online Tuesday after she spotted a bobcat roaming through her backyard. Radhika Vidya Chari lives in 4S Ranch, not far from the intersection of Camino San Bernardo and Fox Valley Drive.She says she was picking fruit from her lemon tree when she turned around and saw the animal. “I spotted him when I went to get a lemon from the tree and turn around. I ran to get my phone but he had disappeared,” Chari said. After the sighting, Chari says she questioned herself.“I googled to make sure if [sic] what I had seen.”Later that day, Chari says she was chopping vegetables when something caught her eye outside the kitchen window.“Sure enough, it was a bobcat and I took the video,” she continued. Chari says she reported the sighting to the Department of Fish and Wildlife. The department told her to keep her pets indoors and to make loud noises to scare the animal away if she encountered a bobcat again. “I have never seen anything like this before even in the wild.” 1017

(KGTV) - A U.S. Navy fighter jet crashed Wednesday morning near Naval Weapons Station China Lake in Central California, military officials said. The single-seat F/A-18E Super Hornet went down about 10 a.m. in Inyo County, Navy officials posted on Twitter. The jet, based at Naval Air Station Lemoore, was on a routine training flight. The cause of the crash is unknown.Death Valley National Park's public information officer Patrick Taylor said he received a call from the Panamint Springs Resort in Darwin of a military plane crash on the west side of Death Valley, near Father Crowley Overlook. The area is also known as "Star Wars Canyon" because the manuevers jets perform are similar to those in the film's battle scenes."We saw the smoke from it," an employee of the resort told 10News.There was no immediate word on the status of the pilot. Two aircraft were flying at the time, but the other pilot likely did not see the crash.Seven park visitors received minor injuries as a result of the crash.A search-and-rescue helicopter was sent to the scene, CNN reported. NWS China Lake and Inyo County sent officers to the area to guard the crash site, Taylor said. Temperatures at the crash site were in the low 100s Wednesday.The jet was part of VFA-151, a squadron belonging to Carrier Air Wing 9 and attached to USS John C. (KGTV) — Former first lady Barbara Pierce Bush has passed away in Texas. She was 92.Her passing was confirmed in a statement issued Tuesday afternoon by the Office of George H. Bush post-White House spokesman, Jim McGrath.It was reported on April 15 that after a "recent series of hospitalizations" Bush would not seek additional medical care. Since she has been surrounded by family members at her Houston home.As "everybody's grandmother" as she would say, Bush was regarded by many as warm, well-mannered, and quick with wit.Bush was born in 1925 in Rye, New York. The two became engaged a year and a half later, just before he went off to war as a Navy torpedo bomber pilot. The Bushes married on Jan. 6, 1945.As her husband mounted a career in oil and eventually politics, Bush was a linchpin, managing 29 moves of her family.Her sixth child, Robin, died from leukemia before she was four years old. Bush said "because of Robin, George and I love every living human more," according to the White House archives.Bush was a fierce advocate in her husband's corner during his political career.Before serving as first lady, she served as second lady from 1981 to 1989. During that time Bush was a proponent of literacy, calling it the "most important issue we have." She established the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, which works to promote preschool and parental literacy.She was also an advocate for volunteerism, helping causes related to the homeless, AIDS, the elderly, and schools, according to the White House.Bush was the only living wife of one former President and the mother of another former President. She and her husband had been married for 73 years.Bush is survived by her husband; five children George W., Neil, Marvin, Jeb, and Dorothy; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her brother, Scott Pierce.Shortly after Bush's passing, her son George W. issued a statement saying, "I’m a lucky man that Barbara Bush was my mother. (KGTV) - Body camera video released Friday shows YouTube shooter Nasim Aghdam telling Mountain View Police she had no plans for violence, hours before she opened fire at the company's San Bruno headquarters.The police recording shows officers identify Aghdam’s car in a Walmart parking lot in Mountain View about 1:30 a.m. on April 3. Less than 12 hours later, Aghdam would open fire in a courtyard at the YouTube campus, injuring three people before turning the gun on herself. Mountain View Police said the license plate showed Aghdam's vehicle was linked to a San Diego missing persons report filed by her family. The MVPD said seven record systems were checked during this time, including the Armed and Prohibited Persons System. The APPS cross-references records of persons who lawfully purchased weapons with the records of those who are prohibited from owning them. The systems checks for Aghdam came back negative, police said.RELATED: Police shooter Aghdam visited gun range before shootingTwo officers knocked on the window and woke up Aghdam, who had been sleeping in the back seat. During their conversation, officers asked Aghdam if she knew her family in San Diego had reported her missing.“We didn’t get along together so I left them,” Aghdam said. Aghdam also said she went to Northern California to start fresh in a place without memories.Officers asked Aghdam if she was taking medication or needed to take medication. He thanked officers for the call and hung up.One hour later, the father called Mountain View Police to let them know his daughter had recently become upset about changes on the YouTube platform that had impacted videos she had created on living a vegan lifestyle, police said. "So I called that cop again and told him there’s a reason she went all the way from San Diego to there, so she might do something."Mountain View Police said that during their call, Aghdam’s father did not bring up any concerns about his daughter’s behavior, any potential for violence, or a likelihood that she could be a danger to herself or others.RELATED: Female shooters are rare, YouTube attacker joins short list“A review of the incident revealed that our officers followed proper procedure and protocol. In this case, they checked on the welfare of a person who, at the time, was reported missing but whose actions, demeanor, and answers did not present any information which would cause us to believe she would be a threat to herself or others,” said Chief Max Bosel.
