(KGTV) - Surveillance video captured intruders surprised by an alarm during a burglary in Spring Valley Wednesday night.The break-in unfolded in Eva Bradley's home off Paradise Valley Road while she was at work. "I'm sad, upset and angry." said Bradley.Just before 11 p.m., a guest bedroom window was forced open. A surveillance camera was rolling in the bedroom of Bradley's 8-year-old son, who was not home. "Scary, scary. Just glad we weren't home. Such as violation," said Bradley.In the video, a person is seen shining a flashlight in the dark. He leaves and another intruder, wearing a hoodie, enter the room and opens a drawer. Moments later, the camera is struck and falls over. Soon after in the living room, the burglar with the flashlight - now toting a bag - is sneaking through the room before he triggers the motion sensor and the alarm. He and another figure then run out of the room.The break-in was cut short, but the thieves made off with iPads and jewelry, including a gold and diamond-shaped ruby ring which Bradley's grandmother wore every day before she died."I didn't get a chance to say goodbye before she passed away ... It's the only physical thing I have to remember her by," said Bradley. Bradley is likely not the only victim. A short time later, a person resembling the thief with the hoodie was recorded in the same area, ringing a doorbell and likely looking for another target. Seven children have died as a result of adenovirus at the Wanaque Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Haskell, New Jersey.The Wanaque facility has been "instructed not to admit any new patients until the outbreak ends and they are in full compliance," according to the health department.The timing of the deaths is not clear. The health department was notified of respiratory illness at the center on October 9 and Wanaque sent parents of children at the facility letters about the infection on October 19 according to Nicole Kirgan at the New Jersey Department of Health.On Tuesday the New Jersey Department of Health announced the death of six pediatric residents at the center and the infection of 12 additional residents. Wednesday the department announced an additional pediatric death.The New Jersey Department of Health said it's an ongoing outbreak investigation and workers were at the facility Tuesday. A team at the facility on Sunday found minor handwashing deficiencies. "The Department continues to work very closely with the facility to ensure that all infection control measures are being followed," the Wanaque facility said in a statement Wednesday.The exact ages of the children are not being released to protect patient privacy, Nicole Kirgan, a spokeswoman for the department of health said, adding that the age ranges for the deceased children was "from a toddler through young adults - but most are under 18."Adenoviruses can cause mild to severe illness, though serious illness is less common. People with weakened immune systems or existing respiratory or cardiac disease are at higher risk of developing severe illness from an adenovirus infection, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.This outbreak, caused by adenovirus type 7, "is affecting medically fragile children with severely compromised immune systems. The strain has been particularly associated with disease in communal living arrangements and can be more severe," according to the health department statement.In a statement Tuesday, the facility said it "promptly notified all appropriate government agencies when the virus was initially identified.""The Wanaque Center continues to fully cooperate with these agencies and has sought out their medical guidance with respect to the virus," the facility said. "As a result, facility staff have diligently implemented all available infection control and prevention measures in order to protect the health and safety of the Wanaque Center's residents."Nurses at the facility had previously reported a shortage of nursing staff and supplies, according to a statement from the union that represents the nursing staff which was posted online Tuesday. The Health Professionals and Allied Employees (HPAE) said the shortages may have led to "poor infection control practices."The union said it represents the 70 nurses that work at the Wanaque Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.In a review by the government's Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services the Wanaque Center was awarded an above average ranking in overall quality but was given a below average health inspection rating. That’s what one 11-year-old is trying to accomplish.Fred Ginman may not have the legs of an athlete, but he certainly has the heart."That’s the message I think Fred has to everyone, 'don’t stop even though we are under coronavirus times,'" said mother Isabella Amaral.Fred is on day three of a 10-day 5K. The goal is 10 laps a day, or 500 meters, around the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay courtyard."The physical therapy we do here it's very modern, very sophisticated, and it's giving Fred hope," said Amaral.Fred and his mom are from Brazil. They have spent more than 600 nights at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay since 2012, as Fred receives treatment for cerebral palsy. The goal is to one day walk on his own."That's our dream, that's our goal, that's what we envision every night, we envision walking freely on the beach," said Amaral.The family said Ronald McDonald House has been there for them every step of the way and now they want to return the favor. All money raised in support of Fred's Fun Run will go back to helping families like their own."Because since the beginning the Ronald McDonald House has embraced our mission to get Fred walking freely," said Amaral.Ronald McDonald House acknowledges its been a tough year. Their costs have increased while their funding has decreased during the pandemic. Smash Mouth says they've received hate mail from fans after taking part in a concert during an event that's since been linked to the spread of more than 100 cases of COVID-19.The band performed an Aug. 9 concert at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota in front of a closely-grouped crowd. Many of those in attendance were not wearing masks. During the performance, lead singer Steve Harwell was heard saying, "f*** that Covid s***."In the weeks since the event, at least 103 cases of COVID-19 have been linked directly to the Sturgis rally.
