(CNN) -- When a World War II veteran turned 99, he had one regret. He had an opportunity earlier in life to meet some of the last living Civil War veterans, but he didn't go.Now 100-year-old Sidney Walton is giving people across the country the chance to meet one of the last living World War II veterans.Walton has been on a mission to visit all 50 states over the past year and a half, and he passed the halfway mark earlier this month. He's made it to 26 states, meeting with governors and anyone who will hear his story.He wants people he meets to remember the sacrifice World War II veterans made, especially as there aren't many left. He decided to leave his home in San Diego and meet with governors of each state as a way to reach a large number of people.He first met with Rhode Island Gov. He calls it his "No Regrets Tour.""We're going to complete this tour," Paul Walton, Sidney Walton's 64-year-old son, told CNN. He never had to use those skills, though.He later was sent to India and served in the China-Burma-India Theater as a corporal, which some call the forgotten theater of the war.Paul Walton said this tour is meant to keep the memory of veterans alive and remember their sacrifices. He believes in the message his father is sharing so much, that he gave up his job to travel with him.The journey isn't always easy. At 100 years old, the amount of traveling and planning can be difficult. Paul Walton said all their plans are made a month in advance at most. (KGTV) — Crews were searching for a Marine who hasn't returned from a skiing and hiking trip to the Sierras. First Lt. Matthew Kraft began his trip on Feb. 23 at the Kearsarge Pass trailhead, just west of the Independence, Calif., in Inyo County, according to the 1st Marines Division. He was scheduled to end in Bridgeport, Calif., on March 5. Kraft's skiing and hiking trip was set to cover the Sierra High Route, the Marines Division said.Crews are also trying to locate Kraft's rental car, a gray 2006 two-door Jeep Wrangler. A search and rescue effort involving Inyo County, Mono County, and Fresno County sheriff's departments was underway Saturday. 664

(CNN) -- German police suspect a landscape gardener is responsible for killing one man and injuring two other people from beyond the grave.Bernhard Graumann, 59, was found dead from unknown causes at his home in Mehlingen in western Germany on Friday.Earlier that day, a 64-year-old doctor was killed by an explosion that appeared to come from a booby trap laid outside his practice in Enkenbach-Alsenborn, local police said in a statement.The doctor, who has not yet been named, is thought to have triggered the explosive when he bent down to pick it up, police said.Two days later, a mother and daughter were injured when a log that appeared to have been tampered with exploded in a wood-burning stove in Otterberg, less than six miles away. The younger woman, who has not been named, remains in hospital -- her condition is not thought to be critical.Western Palatinate Police have linked both cases to Graumann, who is said to have had a "bad relationship" with the victims, having been involved in disputes with them in the past. The gardener's death is currently under investigation, pending the results of an autopsy.When officers searched Graumann's home they discovered gunpowder and "other items subject to the weapons law and the Explosives Act," police statements said.Police also took the unusual step of warning other members of the public who may previously have fallen out with Graumann -- whether in a personal or business capacity -- to be on their guard."The police cannot rule out that prior to his death, the deceased had made preparations that could endanger other people's life and limbs," a statement said. "In particular, people who have had a problematic private or business relationship with Graumann are urged to contact the police immediately."A phone line set up for concerned members of the public has received dozens of calls, according to the force. 1890

(KGTV) - A San Diego County psychiatrist who reportedly had offices in Chula Vista, San Ysidro, Kearny Mesa and El Cajon was in custody Thursday on suspicion of sexual battery and having sex with a patient.Leon Fajerman, 75, was charged with five counts in an arrest warrant issued Wednesday.Among the charges was a violation of Business and Professions Code 729(a), which details that any physician, psychiatrist or counselor who has sexual relations with a patient or terminates a relationship with a patient for the purpose of having sexual contact is guilty of sexual exploitation.In September 2017, court records showed that Fajerman assaulted three female patients, including one who said he groped her breasts and buttocks, according to the Union-Tribune.The complaints were turned in to the Medical Board of California. Fajerman surrendered his medical license May 15, 2018.Fajerman received his medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires and had been in practice for more than 20 years, according to US News. 1033

(KGTV) -- If you grew up in San Diego, you've probably heard of, visited or passed by the Living Coast Discovery Center off Interstate 5 in the South Bay."We focus on local wildlife so we have species have like Tido, the barn owl here, reptiles, sea turtles and aquatic species," said Rachel Harper, LCDC's marketing and communications manager.For over three decades, the facility educated communities, students and families about wildlife and protecting the planet."The animals are the hook but we’re talking about sustainability and zero waste. Those things and how we can make not just our planet, but our backyard in San Diego more sustainable for everyone and that includes compost workshops and those sort of things," Harper said.Since the pandemic forced them to close in March, their animals and their mission faced uncertainty. They couldn't open because half of their facility is indoors."This is certainly a worrisome time for a lot of organizations that rely on general admissions and school revenue," said Harper.They've hosted animal encounters and workshops since March but it wasn't enough."We act as a home for them so it's important we remain open for their sake but also so we can continue to fulfill our mission of connecting San Diegans with our local wildlife," Harper said.The center needed to raise 0,000 to fund projects like their breed and re-release program, and continue research on threatened species.They asked the public they've served to help with donations or register for online programming. 1537
