DETROIT — A 12-year-old girl takes a challenge and a dare that could have cost her life.It’s called the "fire challenge." Young people pour flammable liquids on their bodies and set themselves on fire.Brandi Owens says her 12-year-old daughter Timiyah Landers did the challenge with her friends last Friday.She ended up engulfed in flames. Brandi and her fiance extinguished the blaze from her baby girl and rushed her to the hospital.Timiyah is now at Children’s Hospital with second and third-degree burns over 49 percent of her body. Her mom says kids find these dangerously “outrageous” challenges on social media and Youtube. She is angry and has a message for those behind the sites that post these videos.“They need to delete this mess," Owens said fighting back tears. "It should be censored. That’s nothing that a kid should come across. I could have lost my baby, by the grace of God she’s alive. If I wasn’t home, I would have walked in to my baby dead."Owens says Timiyah knew better. So, she is urging parents to monitor their kids, their friends and their internet and social media platforms.Timiyah will likely be in the hospital for several months and will undergo several more surgeries. 1272

DETROIT (AP) — The U.S. government’s road safety agency is investigating complaints that front suspensions can fail on nearly 115,000 Tesla electric vehicles.The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it has 43 complaints that linkages near the ball joints can fail, allowing contact between the tire and wheel liner.The probe announced Friday covers 2015 through 2017 Model S sedans and 2016 through 2017 Model X SUVs.The agency says 32 owners complained of failures at low speeds, but 11 said the links failed on roads while traveling above 10 mph, including four at highway speeds.The probe could lead to a recall. DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) -- Train traffic in Del Mar was stopped Wednesday, after a cliff collapse near 11th Street. It was a beautiful afternoon for sun and surf until the earth came tumbling down. Del Mar resident, Ingrid Hoffmeister has seen it for years - the cliffs in front of her home, slowly disappearing.“We all know it’s happening, so it’s not a surprise," Hoffmeister said. “It’s getting closer and closer to the path of where you’re walking.”Around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, plumes of dust filled the air, as enormous chunks of the Del Mar cliffs came crumbling down onto the beach. DAWSONVILLE, Ga. — A quiet neighborhood in Dawsonville, Georgia is in shock after a Tampa man traveled there and allegedly killed his ex-wife and her sister on Thursday.Lumpkin County Sheriff Stacy Jarrard said Kelley McDonald Jr., 39, shot four people in the home before turning the gun on himself.  McDonald's ex-wife and her sister were both killed. McDonald shot and wounded a 16-year-old in the home and his 2-year-old daughter. Both were rushed to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, according to Jarrard.The sheriff said the victim was hiding from her ex-husband but he tracked her down to the community about an hour north of Atlanta. Around 8:30 a.m., deputies responded to a call of shots fired. A 13-year-old inside the home during the shooting was able to escape and call 911.Court documents show McDonald and his ex-wife divorced in October 2017. According to an active arrest warrant out of Hillsborough County, Florida, McDonald was wanted for attacking his ex-wife on December 30 inside her Tampa condo. The warrant was for domestic violence with strangulation and burglary with assault.  Tampa neighbors said they were friendly with the victim but noticed a lot of police going in and out of the home. They said she recently moved out. They were shocked and saddened to learn she was murdered.McDonald’s mother spoke to Scripps station WFTS in Tampa outside her Tampa home. She said the family was “shocked and just learning of the news.”  Court documents show an emergency motion was filed on February 26 by the victim asking domestic violence injunction petition.  Lumpkin County Sheriff 's Office posted on Facebook that anyone seeking refuge for domestic violence in a community should always reach out to any local domestic violence organization they can contact.The sheriff writing on Facebook, “If you have taken refuge in a community, I encourage you to reach out to the local law enforcement of that area so that they may be aware of any situations that might arise in order to keep you and your family safe.”The names of the victims have not been released. 2156
