SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- After questions from Team 10, organizers of KAABOO San Diego announced it was postponing this year's festival until 2021. Concertgoers told Team 10 they had difficulty reaching anyone for answers. “We all know this isn’t happening, there’s no festival taking place. Please just give us a refund,” said San Diego resident Vince Matthews.Matthews loves music and travels to festivals all across the country. He has been to KAABOO in Del Mar every year since it started in 2015. He spent more than 0 for early bird VIP tickets for this year’s KAABOO festival. “Last year was the first festival ever that I’ve done VIP and once I did it, I realized there was no going back to general admission!”With the pandemic and COVID cases rising, Matthews wanted to know what was going to happen with KAABOO. As more large events got canceled, he was convinced it was likely not going to take place. Still, he had yet to receive any concrete information from festival organizers.“I reached out to them usually every couple weeks by email,” Matthews said. “I get the same form email that says please be patient."Patience was running out. As of Monday early afternoon, the last update posted on KAABOO’s social media accounts was June 15th. It said, in part, that they “will need just a little more time to determine our position as it relates to this year’s installment of KAABOO.” It told fans they would be hearing from KAABOO shortly.Matthews is frustrated by the lack of communication as we now head into the month of August.“There's nobody touring, there is no festival, there is no lineup. It's not going to happen,” Matthews said.KAABOO is under new ownership. It was announced last year that Virgin Fest was taking over the brand. In addition to the new ownership, the festival was moving from the Del Mar Fairgrounds to Petco Park.As of Monday morning, it still listed the September festival dates on its website.Team 10 contacted Virgin Fest founder Jason Felts. On Twitter, he told investigator Melissa Mecija that emails went to “ticket buyers last week about a possible scaled down social distanced version for 2020.”However, he determined with cases increasing that it wasn’t “a safe decision in the end and not the multi-sensory experience that KAABOO guests experience or deserve.”Team 10 spoke to four people who bought tickets. Nobody received the email that the festival claimed to send to ticketholders.KAABOO organizers released this statement to ABC 10News: With everything in the world moving so far and fast in just the last couple of weeks, we needed a little bit of extra time to be sure we were making the right go-forward decision for our beloved festival. Unfortunately, it is not the best news... We are postponing the 2020 installment of KAABOO San Diego.After much consultation with stakeholders in local government, artists and music industry friends, and members of the San Diego community, we know it is safest and best for everyone to look ahead and plan a bigger and bolder edition of KAABOO for September of 2021.All current pass holders will receive an email in the next few days outlining a special offering for those who choose to hold their passes for KAABOO 2021. I'm also here to pray for non-violent situations after the results come out," said Stolberg.Peggy is one of many — a few at a time — expected to show up by the end of the day, says Father Bill Springer."A little bit of anxiety," said Father Springer.Father Springer believes this was the first-ever all-day prayer vigil for election peace in the history of the 251-year-old mission."We just felt there was a threat of violence around the election, because of the divisiveness of our society and previous violence in the streets," said Father Springer.Father Springer says to combat that, he's calling upon the power of prayer."Aside from the efficacy of the prayer itself, it also alerts people and puts on their mind that this is something people should be concerned about ... and spread to their neighbors and others that they should have a spirit of peacefulness and spirit of respect for others," said Father Springer. 1419

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A suspicious package discovered at Naval Air Station North Island forced military investigators to close the base's Main Gate on Monday morning.The closure at base, located on the northside of the Coronado peninsula, created major delays along the Coronado Bridge and into the base."North Island Naval Air Station main gate has been closed, expect delays in the area," the Coronado Police Department tweeted.Officials kept the remaining two gates at the base were left open during the investigation. The Main Gate was reopened just before 9:30 a.m.Details about the package were not available at this time.NAS North Island is the home port of several aircraft carriers of the United States Navy.The incident comes as San Diego County military bases began bolstering security measures amid rising tensions in the Middle East and threats of retaliation against the U.S. after an American drone killed a top Iranian general.Officials have warned that military law enforcement will be checking all identification cards and increasing vehicle inspections prompting entry gate delays."Due to these security measures, travelers will experience longer wait times entering installation," Camp Pendleton officials said on Twitter Monday. 1255

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal hit-and-run Sunday in Sherman Heights, San Diego Police have confirmed to 10News.On Sunday, a silver SUV was traveling eastbound in the 1800 block of Market Street at about 2 a.m. when the vehicle hit a pedestrian. Family members have identified the victim as 41-year-old Jason Gordon.It's still not clear if Gordon was standing in the street or crossing lanes, police said. The driver fled the scene after fatally hitting the man.Police Tuesday released photos of the man they believed to be the suspect of the crash visiting Humberto’s Taco Shop on the corner of Broadway and 25th Street, where he ordered food. The cashier who took the man's order said it appeared that the man had been drinking that night.RELATED: Pedestrian struck, killed by hit-and-run motorist in San DiegoPolice say the photos from the taco shop and photos from Smart Street Lights near the crash scene led them to the home of 28-year-old Christopher Nunez, where they also located the suspected vehicle, a 2008 GMC Envoy.
