Traffic in Hillcrest will be impacted shortly. Motorists, please be patient and expect delays," the department added. "I've been racially profiled four times throughout my life," said the protest's organizer, Charles Brown. "I want discussions, I want conversations, this cannot continue to happen."Brown decided to plan the protest Tuesday.The protest ended before 2 p.m. in front of the pride flag in Hillcrest. "It symbolizes so much, it's very welcoming of anyone that wants to be accepted and I just thought that would be the perfect way to resolve today's event."Brown said he was happy to see the protest remaining peaceful, but was left slightly disappointment by one thing."I was hoping that some of the civic leaders would have shown up today," he said. (KGTV) -- A woman died early Sunday morning after her vehicle rolled over on a North County road before being struck by several other drivers suspected of driving under the influence.According to California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 2:15 a.m. in the westbound lanes of SR-78 near Mar Vista Drive.CHP says the 33-year-old woman from Oceanside was driving her Toyota Carolla when she veered off the road onto a dirt shoulder. When the woman tried to regain control of the vehicle she hit the center divider wall, leaving the vehicle disabled.RELATED: Pregnant mom who fell asleep at the wheel crashes into Vista building, causing gas leakAfter the crash, a 54-year-old man from San Marcos struck the Corolla, ejecting the woman from her car. The 33-year-old driver of the Corolla died at the scene, CHP said, and the 54-year-old man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. According to officers, after the second crash, a 38-year-old man also from San Marcos crashed into both of the vehicles previously involved in the crash. UNION CITY, Calif. (AP) — Two boys were fatally shot while sitting in a van outside an elementary school early Saturday morning, police said.The shootings of the boys, ages 11 and 14, took place in the parking lot of Searles Elementary School, the East Bay Times reported.Callers to 911 reported hearing gunfire at 1:26 a.m., the newspaper said. Authorities said that when officers arrived, they found the boys.The older boy died at the scene, and the younger child died en route to a trauma center, the Times reported.New Haven Unified School District Superintendent John Thompson said in a statement that the victims were minors.The boys attended schools in the district, Thompson and a district spokesman said.No arrests have been made in connection with the killings.Police Lt. Steve Mendez said there was no sign of a connection between the shooting and the school where it took place. People occasionally gather in the relatively secluded parking lot, Mendez told the Times.Thompson said the school district “will have support for our students and staff at the sites where these students attended when school resumes after the Thanksgiving break.”The district also will work with the Union City Police Department “to ensure that our schools are as safe as they can be,” he said.Police are investigating the possibility that an earlier shooting may be related to the slayings, the Times reported.
