SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - UC San Diego Health received its first batch of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday, and the health care provider expects another shipment next week.“We expect next week to perhaps get 5,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine,” said Dr. Charles Daniels, Chief Pharmacy Officer at UC San Diego Health. Daniels added they could receive the shipment as soon as Monday or Tuesday, but no date has been finalized. The Moderna vaccine is still awaiting emergency use authorization from the FDA, which it could receive this week. Pfizer’s vaccine was the first to get such approval last week.UC San Diego received close to 3,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine Tuesday and plans to begin administering shots to its highest risk health care workers at its Hillcrest and La Jolla locations Wednesday morning. On Tuesday, Gov. Gavin Newsom said California was expected to get 393,000 more doses of the Pfizer vaccine next week, on top of the 327,000 it received this week. Newsom said California is also slated to receive 672,000 doses of Moderna’s vaccine by the end of the month.San Diego County has not given an estimated timeline to receive the Moderna vaccine or how large a shipment it expects.UC San Diego Health was part of the Moderna trial, but Dr. Daniels says it is not the reason for their access to the vaccine. He believes it was coordinated through the University of California Health. 1404

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Two bystanders were hurt in a shooting Saturday evening in Paradise Hills.San Diego Police said two Hispanic men were shooting at each other around 5:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of Reo Dr. 10News spoke to witness Jauhn Hinkle, who was waiting to get his hair cut at the Fade Factory across the street. “Small caliber pops started going off across the street. I saw a muzzle flash,” he said. Hinkle said the fight began near the corner of Reo Drive and Cumberland Street. It escalated, as the two began to yell obscenities. Then one of the men started to chase the other while shooting at him. Hinkle recalled seeing five or six shots, all of which seemed to miss the intended target. Instead, two innocent bystanders were hurt. A bullet hit a 15-year-old boy in the thigh, and shrapnel hit a 48-year-old woman in the leg, police said.Hinkle ran toward the woman, who took cover in the La Palapa Market. “I asked where she was shot. She didn't know because of adrenaline and shock. She was on the phone screaming,” Hinkle said. The woman was transported to the hospital from the scene. The 15-year-old boy was transported to a different hospital, at a later time, San Diego Police said. Both suffered non-life threatening injuries.Hinkle said it is disappointing to see his neighborhood be the scene of a violent crime.  “Project Reo is doing an excellent job. Shout out to them," Hinkle said. "We want this place to pick up. and I think it is, so it's not reflective of what this neighborhood is like.”The shooters ran away. Police did not have any further descriptions of them.Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 1754

"It started dropping from three holes in the ceiling ... It started pouring in so I had to get like three trashcans to hold the water."The student said every time it rained after the original storm they saw leaks through the same hole.READ RELATED: UC San Diego students reeling from flooded dorms after storm10News visited UCSD Dec. 6 and were invited into another Thurgood Marshall Lowers Apartment, where fans and a dehumidifier were whirling. The student said he had to move out, his clothes reeked and water seeped through a window in his bedroom each time it rained."It smells moldy, it's super hot, and it's just a nasty kind of humid feel that hasn't gone away in two and a half weeks," he said frustrated.UCSD said they were working to repair the dorms, using dehumidifiers, replace drywall and carpet if necessary. 1455
