Portland remains in the number one spot for poor quality air Monday. The biggest city in Oregon and nearby Seattle are the top cities in the world for air pollution. Portland reached levels considered “off the chart” over the weekend.The Environmental Protection Agency, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and other national and local agencies partner together on reporting air quality using the official Air Quality Index.The index is color-coded and goes from 0 to 500. The higher the number, the greater the level of air pollution and the greater the health concern. On the low end, 0-50 is considered “good” air quality, or green, and 301-500 is considered “hazardous” and is maroon colored.Air quality was measured at above 500 in and around Portland, Oregon on Sunday. While air conditions have improved, they are still listed as the worst air quality in the world, with Seattle as number 2, and San Francisco and Los Angeles in the top six. Areas in Central California are also reporting high air quality levels because of nearby wildfires.There are more than 100 wildfires burning in Washington, Oregon, Colorado and California. They have killed more than 30 people, and forced hundreds of thousands to evacuate with little notice.However, the smoke in the air is unavoidable for the millions living in these three states. POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) — Poway officials expressed shock Wednesday over a potential state fine after a water system failure that has led to a water boil advisory.The city is now in the fifth day of the precautionary water boil advisory after residents reported brownish water coming out of their faucets on Saturday. Poway has ordered restaurants to close, and is now handing out free crates of bottled water at multiple locations, including City Hall.On Wednesday, Sean Sterchi, of the state Water Resources Control Board, said he anticipates the state will fine the city for failing to protect its system from storm water. Sterchi told 10News Poway's system, built in the 1960s, is an old design that doesn't meet current standards. "In fact, in the more than 50 years the facility has been in operation and under regular inspection by the state, the city has never been made aware of a compliance issue of this nature," the statement said. On Wednesday, the city announced a third round of tests that showed no issues with chlorine, bacteria, or clarity. President Donald Trump delivered remarks from the White House on Thursday, again declaring himself the rightful winner of Tuesday’s election and that the election is being stolen.Currently, Joe Biden is projected to be ahead in the Electoral College vote. Biden is ahead by a 264-213 margin, according to the Associated Press. While the Associated Press called Arizona early Wednesday, some outlets have not called Arizona, which Biden has led narrowly.Trump made a multitude of false statements to sow doubt into the legitimacy of the election.To be clear, Trump still has a narrow path to the presidency, but that path is becoming more narrow by the hour. As Trump spoke, 17,000 votes in Savannah, Georgia, were tabulated cutting Trump’s lead in the state by 6,000. Trump now leads the state by 3,500 votes with 19,000 votes left. Biden has been winning mail-in votes in Georgia by nearly a 2-to-1 margin, which would be enough to give Biden a narrow win in the state.Conversely, Trump won over 62% of the Election Day vote in Georgia. Because those ballots were first to be reported, Trump racked up a sizable lead in Georgia. A similar situation in Pennsylvania took place. In Pennsylvania, Trump won the Election Day vote by a 2-to-1 margin, but trailed the mail-in vote by a 3-to-1 margin. Early on Thursday, Trump tweeted “STOP THE COUNT” as mail-in votes postmarked on or before Election Day are being counted in states such as Pennsylvania and Georgia.
