Former US diplomat Joe Wilson, who challenged the Bush administration on the reasons to go to war with Iraq, has died of organ failure.Wilson's death was confirmed by his former wife, ex-CIA officer Valerie Plame.Wilson was the last American government official to meet with Saddam Hussein. In July 2003, Wilson wrote in a New York Times op-ed that in the months before the Iraq war "some of the intelligence related to Iraq's nuclear weapons program was twisted to exaggerate the Iraqi threat." Plame's work for the CIA was reported in the media not long afterward.Plame is now running for Congress in New Mexico. 625

Hair Club for Men founder Sy Sperling has died in Florida. Sperling became famous in the 1980s for his ubiquitous commercials featuring before and after photos of his clients, ending with him proclaiming “I'm not only the Hair Club president but I'm also a client" as he showed a photo of his previously bald self. Sperling began his business in New York City before taking it national. His commercials were even spoofed on the “Tonight” show and on “Saturday Night Live.” He sold the business for million in 2000. House Democrats on Thursday approved a legislative package aimed at ending the partial government shutdown, while rejecting President Donald Trump's demand for additional funding for a border wall, despite a White House veto threat. As a result, the legislation is expected to be dead on arrival in the Senate, leaving congressional Democrats and the administration at a stalemate that threatens to prolong the shutdown, which is wrapping up its second week. The House of Representatives first voted on Thursday to approve a stopgap spending bill for the Department of Homeland Security that would not allocate any new wall funding, in a rebuke to the President. The bill passed by 239-192, with five Republicans joining Democrats.Shortly afterward, the House voted to approve a legislative package made up of six full-year spending bills to reopen shuttered parts of the federal government. The key sticking point in the shutdown fight has been the President's demand for billion in wall funding, which congressional Democrats have refused to meet.House Democrats have stressed that their plan to reopen the government would not provide any additional funding for a border wall, leading congressional Republicans and the White House to call the effort a "nonstarter." On Thursday evening, the White House issued a veto threat against the legislation ahead of the expected House vote.Earlier in the day, newly elected House Speaker Nancy Pelosi criticized the President's wall as "a waste of money" and "an immorality" during a news conference hours after reclaiming the gavel in the new Congress. The partial government shutdown stretched into its 13th day on Thursday, when the new Democratic House majority was sworn in.As the stalemate continues, there is no end in sight to the partial shutdown, which is affecting hundreds of thousands of federal workers who have either been furloughed or have had to work without pay."We're trying to open up government," Pelosi said on Thursday. But she suggested that Democrats don't plan to budge from their refusal to allocate wall money."We're not doing a wall," Pelosi said emphatically. "Does anybody have any doubt? We are not doing a wall." 2200

How would you like to go to Hawaii for just six dollars? You're probably thinking there's a catch -- and you'd be right because there are a few of them.Fast food restaurant Arby's sold five tickets to Hawaii on its website for Friday at noon. It's a promotion to celebrate the chain's new line of sandwiches on King's Hawaiian rolls.Arby's says the tickets are sold on a first come first basis -- and it will offer five more Monday. It's unclear how first come first served is actually determined with so many people likely clicking at the exact same time.Winners must redeem their tickets between April 26th and 28th.They are also only good for six hours in Honolulu -- though travel to Los Angeles and an overnight stay, there is included.Winner's who enter a special promotional code won't have to pay the if they win. That code is Aloha. 855
