ALGIERS, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- China and Algeria voiced commitment here Wednesday to step up bilateral strategic and cooperative relations and called for intensified cooperation in fields such as infrastructure, energy and resource exploration.     In his meeting with Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia, visiting Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo called Algeria as "an important cooperation partner," noting that China highly values its strategic and cooperative relations with Algeria.     China and Algeria are both developing countries and share common aspiration to develop their economies to improve the welfare of their peoples, said Wu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC).     He noted that China will join hands with the Algerian side to cement the bilateral cooperation in long-term and strategic perspectives.     He proposed the two nations should work closer in fields such as infrastructure construction, energy, resource exploration and establish an economic and trade cooperation zone.     "We should encourage our enterprises to work together on some big and important projects to improve the quality and level of the China-Algeria cooperation," Wu added.     "The Chinese government will encourage Chinese enterprises to establish business and invest in Algeria, adopt open policy on technology transfer to Algeria and launch various training programs for Algerian personnel in an effort to contribute to Algeria's economic structure adjustment and employment enlargement," the Chinese top legislator said.     Agreeing with Wu's proposal, Ouyahia said that the Algerian government has a sincere will to learn from China and boost bilateral cooperation and mutual investment to help the country's economic transformation and realize sustainable development. BEIJING, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping on Saturday called on officials and party members to well study two new guidelines while learning and implementing the Scientific Outlook on Development.     Xi told a video conference here that President Hu Jintao's speech at the event to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the 3rdplenary session of the 11th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on Thursday was an important guideline for Chinese people to bring the socialism with Chinese characteristics to a new stage.     Through this speech, all CPC members will fully understand the achievements in the past three decades and the bright future of the country, he said.     All the party members should realize their responsibility, fear no risk and remain resolved against any disturbance, he said.     Xi urged officials and party members to fully understand and implement the guidelines set at the annual Central Economic Work Conference.     In September, the CPC launched a one and a half year campaign to study and apply the Scientific Outlook on Development, which was adopted by the party at the 17th CPC National Congress in October 2007.     Now the campaign has entered a stage that officials should find out major problems that holds back the Scientific Development, Xi said.     Everyone should work hard to identify the exact problems and the cause of the problems in a bid to work out effective solutions, he said.

BEIJING, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- China held a reception here on Friday to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the China-Japan Peace and Friendship Treaty signing, calling on both nations to make joint efforts to further boost bilateral relations.     President Hu Jintao and visiting Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso attended the reception.     Recalling the history of the Sino-Japanese relations, Hu said 30 years ago senior leaders, including late leader Deng Xiaoping and ex-Japanese Prime Minister Takeo Fukuda, made a strategic decision to sign the treaty.     He called it an important historic document in bilateral ties since the normalization of relations in 1972.     Hu said the treaty had for the first time nailed down the general direction of bilateral ties featuring peaceful co-existence and long-term friendship. He added it had played an important role in pushing forward the ties in a correct fashion.     Since then, peace, friendship and cooperation remained in the mainstream of the relation despite some twists and turns, he said.     The four political documents signed between the two countries had laid a political foundation for the long term stable development of bilateral ties, Hu said, adding both sides had made hard-won progress in cooperation in various areas.     After the normalization of the ties, the political and economic exchanges between the two nations had developed quickly.     On Oct. 23, 1978, China and Japan exchanged documents of ratification of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship during the visit of the then Chinese Vice Premier Deng to Japan. This had become one of the four important political documents (the other three are the joint statement in 1972, the joint declaration in 1998 and the joint statement in May) for the ties.     Hu thanks all those who had contributed to cementing the China-Japan friendship, adding insightful officials of two countries, including the seven Japan-China friendship institutions, had made great efforts to push forward bilateral friendship, despite the variety of domestic and international situations.     The Sino-Japanese relations were at a new starting point to create history and faced important opportunities for further development.     "We are willing to work with the Japanese side to increase political mutual trust, intensify cooperation and friendly exchanges to advance China-Japan strategic and reciprocal relations," Hu noted.     Aso highlighted the bilateral exchanges and cooperation of the past 30 years, attributing the development of the relation to people who were working hard to push forward the ties.     China and Japan are permanent neighbors, and the relations between the two should be in the nature of indispensable partnership. Aso called on the two countries to continue their dialogue and exchanges at various levels and cement consultation and cooperation in aim to achieve joint development and help to promote the stability and prosperity of Asia and the world.     Aso arrived in China on Thursday evening to attend the seventh Asia-Europe Meeting. BEIJING, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao held a telephone conversation with his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama on bilateral ties Friday, with both sides expressing the willingness to further the ties.     The Chinese president said China is ready to strengthen dialogue, promote mutual trust and expand cooperation with the United States in a bid to confront various global challenges together and push forward a stable development of the Sino-U.S. relationship.     Hu said the core interest of either country should be respected by each other and taken into consideration.     As the contagious financial crisis is still producing severe influence to national economies and people's lives, the international community should strengthen coordination and promote closer cooperation to stand up to the challenge, Hu said.     Describing the Sino-U.S. ties as the most important bilateral relations for both sides, Obama said enhancing bilateral constructive dialogue and cooperation is in the interest of not only the two countries themselves, but the world at large.     The U.S. side is expecting closer cooperation with China on major international and regional issues, he said, adding that the U.S. government is willing to join hands with China to develop a more active and constructive bilateral relationship.     Hu Jintao said China acknowledged U.S. efforts in stabilizing the financial market and stimulating the economy, adding that China is willing to further strengthen communication and coordination with the U.S. side in macroeconomic policies, and firmly oppose trade and investment protectionism.     Hu said China will join hands with the United States to work toward fruitful achievements in April's Group of 20 (G20) summit in London and promote healthy and stable development of the world economy and finance.     Obama said it is crucial for the United States and China, the two most important economies, to enhance cooperation.     Both sides exchanged visit invitations. The two leaders agreed to meet in the Group of 20 (G20) summit slated for April in London.
