Shortly after the body of 52-year-old Vanita Gray was found in her SUV on Houston Whittier at Hayes on Detroit's east side, her boyfriend drove up to a Detroit police scout car and told officers that someone killed his girlfriend. A source said that Gray's 52-year-old boyfriend, who was armed with a gun, also told police that he shot the person who killed her, but the source says the boyfriend didn't have details to support his claim. The only thing police knew for sure was that Gray was dead from multiple gunshot wounds after someone opened fire on her in her SUV. Someone called 911 around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday to report a vehicle on the side of the road with bullet holes in the windshield.Twenty-one shell casings were found in the area with some of the bullets hitting the glass window of a nearby furniture store. And it didn't take long for police to go from calling Gray's boyfriend a person of interest to the suspect in her murder. Gray and her boyfriend were living together in a home, less than a mile from where she was killed. She was wearing flip flops and lounge clothes. Gray was reportedly employed in a rehab center. Her boyfriend was on disability, according to his relatives. Right now, Gray's boyfriend, who is on probation for retail fraud, has not been charged with her murder. Record high temperatures reportedly measured in Antarctica will take months to verify, the U.N. weather agency said Sunday.A spokesman for the World Meteorological Organization said the measurements made by researchers from Argentina and Brazil earlier this month have to undergo a formal process to ensure that they meet international standards.“A formal decision on whether or not this is a record is likely to be several months away,” said Jonathan Fowler, the WMO spokesman.Scientists at an Argentine research base 531
Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden made one of his first public appearances during the spread of the coronavirus on Sunday, visiting the site Saturday’s tense Black Lives Matter protest in Wilmington, Delaware. Biden visited businesses that were boarded up in Wilmington, and met a few locals during his visit. “We are a nation in pain right now, but we must not allow this pain to destroy us,” Biden’s campaign account tweeted. “As President, I will help lead this conversation — and more importantly, I will listen, just as I did today visiting the site of last night's protests in Wilmington.” 627
Six network news divisions began televising President Donald Trump's coronavirus briefing Monday evening. But by the time it ended nearly two hours later, only Fox News Channel was showing it live. As the president has taken to the White House podium nearly every day to deliver updates, it has revived a debate over how much unedited time the president should receive. Networks like CNN were criticized for the time they spent showing Trump's campaign rallies four years ago. Still, there's a difference between political rallies and a White House discussion of a national emergency. 596
