SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man and teen were shot in Linda Vista early Friday while visiting the memorial of another local gunshot victim.San Diego Police officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 6500 block of Kelly Street at about 12:30 a.m. Friday. Several witnesses at the scene told officers a man who had been shot was taken in a vehicle that fled the scene.Numerous bullet casings were found in the area.RELATED: Suspect arrested in Linda Vista shooting that left teen deadOfficers headed to Sharp Memorial Hospital to check for a gunshot victim, where they found two men who had been shot. One victim, a 20-year-old Hispanic man, had been shot in the leg and the other victim, a 15-year-old Hispanic male, suffered two gunshot wounds to the buttocks area and one to the leg.Both victim's injuries were considered non life-threatening. Both were uncooperative with police and no suspect information was available, police added.An officer at the scene told 10News the two victims were visiting a memorial set up for 16-year-old Carlos Valdovinos, who was gunned down in the same area in late May. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A researcher at the San Diego Museum of Natural History helped identify a new species of dinosaur, which was just added to the Anatomical Record.Dr. Ashley Poust made the discovery 10 years ago while on a research trip to China."There were a couple of features that immediately stood out to me, made me thing maybe we have something new here," he says.Dr. Poust says the shape of the skull and the presence of two long, decorative tail feathers made him think this was a new species."There's not any other dinosaurs that aren't birds, that we know of, who have long feathers like that," he says.Dr. Poust named the dinosaur "Wulong Bohaiensis." The word Wulong means "Dancing Dragon" in Chinese. The other part of the name comes from the area where it was found.A find like this helps fill in the gaps in how dinosaurs and birds evolved differently. Dr. Poust says Wulong was only about 1 year old when it died. That means it grew those long feathers much earlier than birds typically do. He thinks they could be functional, or it shows a major difference between dinosaurs and birds."You can't really answer those questions in California, but you can answer those questions in a place like China," says Dr. Poust.According to a release, the dinosaur was an early relative of the Velociraptor. It lived 120 million years ago and would have been about the size of a crow or raven.Dr. Poust says he's excited to share the new species with the world. The skeleton is on display at the Dalian Museum in China. It likely will not come to San Diego, as the specimen is too delicate for such a long journey. 1628

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A New York-based pastor who was placed on a government watchlist after traveling to Tijuana to work with migrants is suing the federal government. Kaji Dousa is the senior pastor at Park Avenue Christian Church in New York and a member of the New Sanctuary Coalition, which works with immigrant communities.She had also been the senior pastor at the Table United Church of Christ in La Mesa for several years until 2016.According to a federal complaint, in November, Dousa started traveling to Tijuana as migrants from caravans continued filling the churches and shelters of the border city.“What I do is I go and meet and pray with people. I listen to them. I offer all the gifts of pastoral office,” said Dousa.She traveled multiple times across the border until January, when she was stopped by border agents and taken into a secondary screening area.According to the complaint, a Customs and Border Protection officer interrogated her, at one point asking “about Pastor Dousa’s assistance to asylum seekers and whether she encouraged them to lie in asylum applications.”Dousa denied the claims, but explained “that sometimes during her ministry she assisted asylum seekers, many of whom speak no English, in explaining what caused them to flee their homes,” according to the complaint. 1316

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A new scam appears to target local Amazon customers worried about being victims of package theft.Neighbors at the Escala community in Mission Valley say package thefts have been an ongoing problem for the last few years.Could the trend be providing fuel for a scam? A recent encounter at the housing complex could point to a new method by scammers.Adriana Alberdi, who has lived at the complex for a decade, said she and other residents received an email from the property management company describing a recent visitor.According to the email, the man — described as blond and in his early 20s — was wearing a lanyard connected to a tablet. He had business cards and claimed to work at Amazon. At one point, the man went to the on-site office pushing to install an Amazon Key device in homes. The new service allows Amazon to gain access to a home or car to deliver packages and keep them from getting stolen.The email says the man was "pushy" and "argumentative," before finally leaving. Amazon confirmed the man was not an employee."It's like you're getting robbed of your security. You don't know who to trust anymore," said Alberdi. "This is new. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A group of activists are upset after the San Diego Police Department rescheduled a Black History Month celebration for the department's current and former black police officers.The department's celebration was scheduled to take place Saturday, February 24th, but was canceled just days before. The group says a committee of officers was appointed to plan the event in January. They think the cancellation was politically motivated. Monica Montgomery spoke during a brief press conference on Monday at the Civic Center Plaza. She thinks the decision to reschedule the event was made after the keynote speaker was announced. The speaker was supposed to be Geneviéve Jones-Wright, the candidate for San Diego district attorney. She's running against interim D.A., Summer Stephan. The police department told 10News the event was rescheduled due to planning conflicts. Lt. Scott Wahl said they plan on notifying officers when a new date is set. The D.A. sent 10News the following statement: "District Attorney Summer was not involved in the planning or the rescheduling of this event." 1143
