According to a witness, the injury happened five minutes into the second quarter at the 30-year line. The witness told 10News the wide receiver laid on the field for 20 minutes before an ambulance arrived to rush the student to the hospital. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A bill created to improve warehouse working conditions has passed the state's Senate Labor Committee.Assembly Bill 3056, authored by Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez, ensures warehouse workers can take a restroom break, use a hand-washing station, drink water, or take a legally mandated break without fear of being fired.“We shouldn’t need to write a bill to make sure warehouse workers are able to take a restroom break or wash their hands without being reprimanded. But time and time again, Amazon has shown disregard for the safety of their workers -- even during this ongoing public health crisis,” Gonzalez said.AB 3056 not only applies to Amazon workers, but also to those who work at Target, Walmart, and other retailer warehouses.There has been an exponential rise in online sales leading to several companies adding automated systems to control the workflow. Worker productivity is monitored to determine whether someone has met a specified rate or quota of items pulled.Automated systems generate warnings when too many time-off tasks occur in a worker’s shift, and accumulated warnings can result in workers being fired without a human manager even being involved.The bill would establish civil penalties for an employer of 0 per employee for an initial violation, and ,000 per employee for subsequent violations. 1355

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A ceremony was held Wednesday to honor San Diego County law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty.87 names were read at noon at the memorial wall at the County Administration Building in downtown San Diego.The fallen law enforcement officers named date back to 1850, and they include San Diego police Officer Jonathan “JD” De Guzman, who was killed in the line of duty in 2016.“They did it because they loved it. They did it because they cared, and it’s just so important that those people, the survivors, know that the citizens appreciate what they did,” said Skip Murphy with the San Diego County Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation.The public joined the memorial on the northwest lawn of the County Administration Building and quietly paid respects.The San Diego Police Department is also holding a memorial ceremony Thursday morning. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Good Samaritan discovered a cat and her 11 kittens inside a downtown dumpster San Diego recently.The San Diego Humane Society said it's now caring for the cat and her kittens, which is a rare size for any litter.“A healthy litter this size is incredibly uncommon and certainly not something we see every day in the nursery,” said Jackie Noble, SDHS kitten nursery manager.RELATED: East County woman loses hundreds of dollars in pet scamThe Good Samaritan told SDHS it didn't appear the cat was dumped there and may have been using the dumpster as a safe place to hide and care for her kittens.SDHS said the animals are all in good health. The animals will remain there until the kittens are ready to be put up for adoption and the mother is spayed."As cute as the kittens are, a litter this large highlights the importance of spaying and neutering.
