But he leaves out the details: County election officials say that the seven ballots, along with two unopened ones, were accidentally tossed in an elections office in a Republican-controlled county by a single contract worker and that authorities were swiftly called.The Brennan Center for Justice in 2017 ranked the risk of ballot fraud at 0.00004% to 0.0009%, based on studies of past elections.In the five states that regularly send ballots to all voters, there have been no major cases of fraud or difficulty counting the votes.___CRIMEBIDEN, answering questions in Philadelphia on ABC: “The crime bill itself did not have mandatory sentences, except for two things, it had three strikes and you’re out, which I voted against in the crime bill.”THE FACTS: That's misleading. The study cited, by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, did not find that 85% of mask wearers catch COVID-19. If that were the case, the majority of Americans would be infected.It found something quite different: that 85% of the small group of COVID-19 patients surveyed — about 150 on this question — reported they had worn a mask often or always around the time they would have become infected.The group's exposure to potentially infected people in the community varied. Most reported shopping or being in a home with multiple people. But they were twice as likely to have eaten at a restaurant, where masks are set aside for the meal, than were uninfected people in a control group.Most studies have shown that wearing masks reduces the transmission of the virus by blocking respiratory droplets. (KGTV) — Two men were arrested after stealing a car and crashing into another vehicle Tuesday in the North County.The two men carjacked a driver at gunpoint just before 3 p.m. in the 900 block of Postal Way in Vista, according to San Diego Sheriff's Department. After yanking the driver out of his vehicle and taking off, the two men soon crashed into another vehicle, before fleeing.A detective who happened to be in the area heard the call over the radio and started searching for the suspect, SDSO said. When he spotted the suspects, he began to follow them and relay directions to an SDSO helicopter overhead.Deputies took over and a brief pursuit began. The two men crashed into a curb and fled the vehicle. Deputies caught both men after a foot chase.SDSO said a loaded gun and illegal drugs were discovered in the vehicle.SDSO said the two men, identified as Joseph Laxton and Ricardo Hernandez, were arrested on charges of carjacking, hit-and-run, a felon in possession of a firearm, drugs, violating parole, threat causing death or great bodily injury, and participating in a criminal street gang. 1128

Walgreens and CVS are rolling out new safety procedures while giving flu shots amid the coronavirus pandemic.According to Walgreens, they will conduct temperature checks and wear face masks, face shields, and protective gloves while administering the seasonal influenza vaccine.CVS says patients will be required to wear a mask and answer COVID-19 screening questions. Their pharmacists will also be wearing masks, gloves, and face shields when working with the patients.Walgreens says they have enhanced cleaning regimens, social distancing protocols, and there are plexiglass shields at registers.The pharmacies say patients will have to wear face masks and are encouraged to schedule an appointment and fill out the paperwork online ahead of time. 758

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has signed a bill that makes certain acts of animal cruelty a federal felony, saying it’s important for the nation to combat “heinous and sadistic acts of cruelty.”The Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act prohibits extreme acts of cruelty when they occur in interstate commerce or on federal property.The legislation expands on a 2010 law that targeted videos depicting the crushing or torturing of animals, but that did not prohibit the underlying conduct. Under the new law, the underlying acts of cruelty would be a federal crime.An array of animal rights groups attended a signing ceremony Monday in the Oval Office. VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A pedestrian was hit and killed in the 100 block of Estrelita Drive in Vista Friday night. Police say the white pickup truck involved in the crash fled the scene. The crash happened at 8:18 p.m., according to police. Two hours later police found an abandoned vehicle down the road that matches the pickup described in the crash.
