Do you get your car washed at one of those automatic washes? Would you go as often if you heard about collisions and damage happening inside?Mark Crotty of Arizona took his new car through a Super Star Car Wash. He says while in the wash, a car two cars ahead somehow came off the rollers. Crotty said the truck in front of him stopped, which caused his car to be sandwiched with the truck and a big SUV from behind. He said that SUV pushed him about 15 feet through the rest of the wash. Crotty says Super Star Car Wash took no responsibility for the damage caused. He ended up paying hundreds to repair damage to his bumpers.Jennifer Chahoud also had damage to her new car. She also said it happened inside a Super Star Car Wash.Chahoud says cars suddenly stopped in front of her and her car was hit. She said for weeks, Super Star claimed they were not responsible.Chahoud said only after complaining to the Better Business Bureau that they paid for repairs to her car.Jake Morrissey says it happened to him too.He said his car was in neutral and his hands were off the steering wheel as all drivers are asked to do. Then his car collided with a car in front and back of him.He said Super Star claimed no responsibility and said it was not their equipment. Instead, he says the car wash blamed another driver.Morrissey said Super Star gave him the driver's name and location and told him to take it up with her. He approached her, but said she denied knowing anything about it and threatened to call the police. He sued, and Super Star blamed this other driver.Morrissey lost and still hasn't had his damage repaired, and he now questions why cars are put on the conveyor belt so closely.Morrissey added he wonders why there aren't sensors that immediately stop the line when there's an issue.JR Ruelas of Super Star Car Wash said these collisions are very rare. He said when they happen, they are usually the fault of the driver.Ruelas said drivers put on their brakes or move the steering wheel taking them off the track.He says in the above cases, the car wash equipment was not the problem.He defended the practice of giving drivers information of other drivers to seek reimbursement.He said Super Star does take responsibility when they are at fault, but couldn't give exact numbers.Ruelas said there are sensors on the conveyor line, but they are not in the middle, where many of these collisions happen.Crotty, Chahoud and Morrissey all said their damage was not their fault, and ask how could it be when they have no control over their car's movement? And they say, they were just stuck.All three of them demanded that Super Star give them a video of their incidents from cameras inside.If you have similar issues, or your car is damaged in another way, make sure to get that video.Also, keep all receipts, file a police report, get damage estimates and push the car wash to reimburse you for the damage.If they don't, you could consider taking them to small claims court. 3076

(KGTV) - The San Diego Sheriff’s Office is investigating how several pounds of narcotics wound up magnetized to a man’s truck.A Mexican citizen who lives in Tijuana but works in El Cajon noticed a strange object in his fender Thursday morning and called authorities.Deputies found 4 packages containing roughly 5 pounds of narcotics hidden underneath the man’s pickup truck.The man’s next door neighbor informed them that they had seen men tampering with the victim’s truck overnight.“It’s our feeling that someone targeted this car because he could cross the border every day with the SENTRI pass and they were probably waiting to collect the narcotics later today,” said Sgt. Tim Chantler of the Sheriff’s office.Drivers with a SENTRI pass can travel in establishes dedicated commuter lanes to and cross the border faster after applying and being prescreened. Deputies are awaiting test results for the drugs but suspect either meth, heroin, or fentanyl.The driver is not considered a suspect as he called 911, according to authorities. “I would be checking my vehicle every day before I cross the border” said Sgt. But if you're one of the millions of Americans — roughly four in ten households — who filed back in February, you probably couldn't wait to get your hands on your expected refund.And there's a good chance you put that refund toward a visit to the doctor.That's according to new research by the JPMorgan Chase Institute, which evaluated when Americans in different income and demographic groups file their taxes.Americans who file their taxes early are more likely to receive a larger tax refund. Early filers were also more likely to spend a larger portion of their refund on health care.Related: How to save money on health care in retirementIn fact, American families increase their health care spending by 60% in the very week they receive a tax refund. And those who received their refunds in February increased their health care spending over the following 76 days by 38%, compared with a 22% increase for those who received refunds in March and an 11% increase in April or May.While some high-deductible health plans encourage early-year spending, JPMorgan found that deductibles aren't the motivating force behind this surge.Instead, among the earliest filers, 64% of their health care spending went to services they had been putting off, including dental visits, hospital visits and in-person doctor appointments.What does this mean? It's increasingly clear that families are treating their tax refunds as a zero-interest savings vehicle, the funds of which they're using for important and sometimes crucial expenses like health care.That's problematic for Americans' financial health, because the IRS does not currently give taxpayers control over the timing of their refund payments, outside of choosing when to file your annual refund between January and Tax Day in April. This means it can be challenging or unrealistic to only schedule payments or purchases around your tax refund every spring.It also poses problems for Americans' physical health, because those who rely on this cash infusion to afford health care are likely to delay care.Related: Americans spend more on health care, but have shorter livesGenerally speaking, young people under the age of 35 and those whose take-home pay is less than ,000 are more likely to be early filers because they have a greater need for this cash infusion.Another reason for filing early could be that low-income families are more likely to receive refundable tax credits, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit, money that is not available except through a tax refund. Across all income and age groups, though, people who are owed a larger refund are more likely to file early.Given the link between tax refunds and health care spending, policymakers and employers should consider making changes that would allow consumers to access funds throughout the year. Policymakers might consider offering periodic tax refund payments -- perhaps quarterly payments so that families wouldn't have to defer care until tax season.Another solution is to make the timing of these payments even more flexible and frequent for those who require urgent health care. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - A news helicopter had what County of San Diego officials called a “troubled” landing in El Cajon Tuesday. The incident with the Bell 206B helicopter was reported about 2:15 p.m. in the parking area of Gillespie Field at 681 Kenney St., Santee Fire reported. Video recorded by the news helicopter appears that it was a normal landing in which the helicopter skids land on a movable platform called a dolly. The dolly can then be pulled into a hangar. It seems from the last seconds of the video clip that one of the helicopter skids may have missed the platform and the chopper then tipped over.When emergency crews arrived, the helicopter was on its side.The pilot was not hurt but the passenger was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, officials said. Hazardous Materials teams were notified of a small fire and fuel spill, according to the County."The aircraft rolled over while landing, caught fire and sustained substantial damage. The degree of damage means this will be classified as an accident," said FAA spokesperson Ian McGregor.The FAA and NTSB will investigate the landing.The news helicopter is operated by a third party and shared by five San Diego media outlets, including 10News. 1235

During a Senate hearing Friday, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy explained the operational changes the USPS has made in his time with the agency, adding that he believes the post office will be able to handle increased mail-in voting during the 2020 election."As we head into the election season, I want to assure this committee and the American public that the Postal Service is fully capable and committed to delivering the nation’s election mail securely and on-time," DeJoy said in his opening statement. "This sacred duty is my number one priority between now and election day."Concerning various reports from across the country about distribution centers dismantling mail sorting machines, DeJoy explained that such machines weren't needed and were only operating at about 35 percent capacity. DeJoy added that the machines were removed because they will be replaced with machines that sort packages, as the USPS has seen a decrease in mail delivery and an increase in package delivery.DeJoy did confirm that the USPS has attempted to cut out extra trips by mail carriers, which employees have said have led to significant delays in mail delivery.DeJoy also testified that he hadn't had conversations with Trump administration officials about the USPS' impact on the 2020 general election.DeJoy used his opening statements to urge Congress to adopt legislation that would make changes to USPS' crippling pension system."This year, the Postal Service will likely report a loss of more than billion dollars.
