OTAY MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The piercing sound of a high-powered drill could be heard coming from the Otay Mesa border wall prototypes Tuesday morning. Journalist Jorge Neito captured the images from a neighborhood in Tijuana. Construction workers could be seen drilling more than a dozen holes into the concrete barriers.Customs and Border Protection officials confirmed to 10News last week that the prototypes were coming down to make space for a secondary border fence. That fence will strech 14 miles from the beach to Otay Mountain. Officials never specified when the prototype demolition would happen.The prototypes are 30 feet high and were built in last September of 2017. President Trump toured the barriers in 2018. Out of the eight designs there wasn't one specifically picked for the border wall. "There was never an intent to pick one and copy that along the entire U.S. border. The entire concept literally was how can we do this better," San Diego Sector Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott told 10News in 2018. "But we're not picking one of these walls over the other walls, and we never planned on doing that. So, depending on the terrain or the environment, it could be any one of these? Correct."10News reached out to Border Patrol locally to find out if today's work is part of the prototypes' demolition and a spokesperson referred us to Washington D.C., so far we have not heard back. 1413

PANMUNJOM, Korea (AP) — With wide grins and a historic handshake, President Donald Trump and North Korea's Kim Jong Un met at the heavily fortified Demilitarized Zone on Sunday and agreed to revive talks on the pariah nation's nuclear program. Trump, pressing his bid for a legacy-defining deal, became the first sitting American leader to step into North Korea.What was intended to be an impromptu exchange of pleasantries turned into a 50-minute meeting, another historic first in the yearlong rapprochement between the two technically warring nations. It marked a return to face-to-face contact between the leaders after talks broke down during a summit in Vietnam in February. Significant doubts remain, though, about the future of the negotiations and the North's willingness to give up its stockpile of nuclear weapons .The border encounter was a made-for television moment. The men strode toward one another from opposite sides of the Joint Security Area and shook hands over the raised patch of concrete at the Military Demarcation Line as cameras clicked and photographers jostled to capture the scene.After asking if Kim wanted him to cross, Trump took 10 steps into the North with Kim at his side, then escorted Kim back to the South for talks at Freedom House, where they agreed to revive the stalled negotiations.The spectacle marked the latest milestone in two years of roller-coaster diplomacy between the two nations. The K-12 school for high functioning students with autism just had an important gift taken away.It's an empty field right now but the plan was for Gateway Academy to remove all of the bushes and gravel to make room for a brand new adaptive playground. The cost of entire project would be picked up by a very generous donor."We thought we had found an angel who understood the population and who's ready to give generously," said Robin Sweet, the school's executive director. "Not so much."That donation, ,000. How much the school has seen of that money? Nothing."Before I signed the purchase order I called him again just to make sure," said Sweet.That donor backed out. Now the school is left with a massive bill, a playground that's sitting in storage on pallets and students who are disappointed."Guess what,  don't see anything out here," said Joseph, an eighth grader at Gateway.  "It's not just to have fun. Phone calls between President Donald Trump's personal attorney, Michael Cohen, and the White House are being monitored by the Federal Bureau of Investigations, according to a report.Cohen's phones are being monitored through a log of which numbers it connects with, the report says. President Trump and Cohen have had at least one conversation since Cohen's offices were raided in connection to an alleged payment the attorney made to a porn star who says she had an affair with Trump.The report says the phone monitoring was approved by a judge weeks prior to the April 9 raid on Cohen's house in New York City. In the raid, authorities seized files related to the alleged payment Cohen made to Stormy Daniels for 0,000. The money was allegedly to pay her to keep quiet about the affair she says she and Trump had in 2006.An earlier report said Cohen's phones had been wire-tapped, but that was found to be false. 950
