ALEXANDRIA, Ky. — One northern Kentucky family honored their lost wife and mother by paying it forward to brighten the morning of dozens of people.The Peters family celebrated what they called "Family Friday," where every Friday they put aside distractions and did something together."Our family began our Family Friday in the drive-thru at Dunkin'," 11-year-old Davis Peter said."Every Friday, especially when he was out of school, we would make sure we would enjoy time together as a family," Barry Peters, Davis' father, said. Then, in June, Laura Peters, Barry's wife and Davis' mom, died after going into cardiac arrest at 41 years old. "Since then we have learned to walk in a new normal," Barry said. Barry and Davis wanted to honor Laura, so they made a trip to Dunkin'.Laura "ran on Dunkin'," Davis said, getting coffee there at least four times a week. With that in mind, Davis and Barry did some math to figure out how much Laura would have spent at Dunkin' over six months."Since it's been six months, that would be four medium coffees a week at a piece for the last 26 weeks, equaling 8," Davis said. Barry and Davis then made a trip to Dunkin' with that money."I need you to take the 8; that's how much coffee she would have drank over the last six months," Davis said. "I need you to pay for everyone behind us until it runs out."Barry and Davis then watched from the parking lot as cars rolled up and ordered their morning cup of Joe."Every time somebody pulled up and we'd say, 'You're paid for,' everybody's mouth just fell," Amanda Jones, a shift leader at Dunkin', said. "Then when we told them why, what had happened, everybody was teary-eyed.""I don't remember one person who didn't honk their horn and be thankful," Davis said. After initially being deadlocked on a vote to certify election results, The Wayne County Board of Canvassers voted unanimously to certify election results Tuesday evening. The motion to hold another vote came following hours of public comments condemning Republican canvassers' decisions to vote against the certification.The board of canvassers vote initially tied 2 to 2 along party lines. But just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, the board filed a motion and voted to certify the results under the stipulation that Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson does a comprehensive audit of the election in the county.President Trump also tweeting praise to canvassers who initially blocked the certification, saying "Wow! Michigan just refused to certify the election results! Having courage is a beautiful thing. The USA stands proud!"There has been a whirlwind of unproven allegations of fraud and a string of lawsuits since the election two weeks ago. The canvassers' initial vote came after many Detroit precincts were found to be out of balance.That means the number of votes are not in line with the number of voters. Academy Award-nominated actress and director Sondra Locke, whose body of work included multiple collaborations with Clint Eastwood, has died. She was 74.Locke died in November at her home in Los Angeles, according to a death certificate obtained by CNN.She had been battling bone and breast cancer.Locke made her film debut in 1968's "The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter" opposite Alan Arkin. Her performance earned her an Oscar nomination.She'd go on to star in several more films, including a notable stretch of movies alongside Eastwood. Locke and Eastwood dated for more than a decade until they split, which Locke later alleged damaged her career.She detailed their relationship and post-breakup turmoil in her 1997 book "The Good, the Bad and the Very Ugly."Locke notched four directors credits during her career, for films like "Ratboy" and "Impulse."Rosanna Arquette, who starred in the Locke-direced film "Trading Favors," remembered Locke as "thoughtful and kind" in a message posted to Twitter."[Locke] had laser vision she was great with actors," she wrote.Actress Evan Rachel Wood added: "#SondraLocke directed me in my first film when I was 4 years old. Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals has been considered one of the best players in hockey for the last decade. But despite his incredible skill, he has had little to show for his success in the playoffs. That is until this season. Ovechkin scored the go-ahead goal in Wednesday's pivotal Game 7 matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The goal ended up being the only one Washington needed in its 4-0 shutout over the Lightning to win the best-of-seven series 4-3. The victory earns Ovechkin his first appearance in the Stanley Cup Final. It also only the second time the Capitals have reached the Final. "I can’t explain my emotions. I am just happy for my boys. I can’t wait to come back home and play for a Stanley Cup," Ovechkin said. It was a tough road for Washington to just its second conference title. Washington had to come from behind in all three series during the playoffs. The road to the Stanley Cup Final was a bit easier for Vegas.The Golden Knights clinched their spot in the Stanley Cup Final last Sunday, defeating Winnipeg for the Western Conference title.
